Hi everybody!

Hi there -

I'm Sara, a 34-yr-old runner, coach, and former high school math teacher! I lived overseas (in Bahrain and the Philippines) for the last 6 years, and have just recently moved back to the U.S. I have a 21-month-old daughter, and a second girl on the way in March.

I am joining this forum because I'm passionate about fitness (running in particular), and I want to talk with others who are passionate about fitness. I also would like to hopefully provide advice and help to those who are just starting out.

To further pursue my passion for fitness/running and to help others do the same, I decided the perfect thing to do would be to start an online coaching business and website. I want the content of my site to stay relevant to what people need, and I think this forum will be a great place to meet people, find out what types of workouts people are doing and what questions people have, and generally keep my finger on the pulse of fitness today.

I'm super excited to meet you all - this seems like a great forum!

Sara :)

You have a tough job. Teaching people how to run well is hard, most assume they must be doing it well and many aren't.
I was heavily into competitive distance running some years and 3 stone, 42 pounds, ago, when a coach told me he could improve my pace and avoid potential injury if I was willing to take time out of competition to correct form.
I did and came back faster than ever, around 10 months later. Also despite being so much heavier now, I have never injured myself running, and still have a respectable if not competitive average pace, 8.5 - 9 mph instead of the 10+ when I was marathon scrawny, though I tend not to run more than 10 miles in one go now so the comparison could be moot.
I am sure many here will benefit from your presence.
