Hello everyone, new here.
My current weight is 210 lbs, I am 5'7" and i'm 35.
I found this website today and hope it helps me kepp motivated (i need all the help i can get) I started going to the gym about 3 weeks ago and do about 30 mis weight training and 30 min cardio mon - fri. I have not lost any weight though, I guess it takes time.
I set a big goal for myself of losing 50 Lbs (however long it takes). I know this will be hard, but I am tired of getting tired when I walk up the stairs and such. I think 160 lbs is ideal for me. Thanks for reading my post and I hope to chat with all of you in the future.
Any suggestions are appreciated

Welcome to the group. :)

It's great that you took the initiative and joined a gym.... good for you.

You say you are weight training 5 days per week. I'd be interested in seeing how you have that structured.

You also say you haven't lost any weight in 3 weeks. It seems like your calories are a bit off. No amount of exercise is going to make up for too many calories. So what are you doing in terms of nutrition?

welcome to the forum and good luck on your journey...i totally understand of being tiredof being tired UGH WE CAN DO IT:grouphug:

Hi. I've set a large goal for myself as well. However, it's good to set mini goals, say 10 pounds. Every 10 pounds give yourself a non-food reward. At least you'll have something to look forward to.

Hi Steve, to answer your question. I go to the Gym monday through friday. Mondays I do 2 sets of about 15 reps each of upper body and abs work on the Circuit machines they have at the gym about 9 workouts totall. I also do 30 mins of cardio either on the treadmill, elliptical, bike, or treadclimber. Tuesdays I do 2 sets of 15 reps each of lower body work on the circuit machines, about 7 total workouts and I also do another 30 mins of cardio on one of the above. I alternate the rest of the week and have been very consistent. I have been eating pretty good Mon - Fri, Cereal with 1% milk or Friuit for Breakfast. Turkey Sandwich and fruit for lunch, and for Dinner we have whatever my wife makes which is not the healthiest, but I have smaller portions. Weekends is my weekpoint, because we go out to eat or have big portions, but not always. I still try to remember what I am working towards and cut back a bit. Do you think I am doing the correct amount of exercises?
Thanks.

Circuit training is really just another form of cardiovascular exercise. What do you derive from it from the physiological standpoint? Primarily muscle endurance and caloric expenditure. It's certainly not the most efficient way for increasing muscle mass. It's the least efficient way for increasing strength.

Knowing these things, it really comes down to you and what you hope to get out of the weight training. If it's muscle and strength, I'd bag what you are currently doing.

If you ask me, the area you should be placing your focus on is nutrition. You haven't lost weight not b/c of your exercise set up. Put it that way.

I guess your right. I just need to be more strong and avoid those fatty foods. I am not looking to be Muscular, My main goal would be Weight loss, being healthy, and feeling good. I really do not know much about which exercises to do, I just try to do a bit of everything since it is available to me. I heard that I should mix in some weight training with my cardio. That's why I do the circuit machines. I will definatelly concentrate more on my food intake and what kind of foods. Are there any websites that can help me with Calorie intake Vs. what my body uses??

Thanks Again.

check the stickied threads in the nutrition forum - there's a good link or two in those threads... but don't get too hung up on a specific number - those really are just guidelines and you have to work with what's best for your body..
