Here's my story, lived in Uk 1983-1991 and the combination of cold weather and need to walk fairly long distances kept me fit as well as being an avid squash player. Returned to my hometown gibraltar to set up my own dental practice, stress was high but had no problem with weight issues, was only when my marriage turned sour 2005 and been hanging on for the sake of the children that emotional eating has taken a firm grip, 1991 weighed in at 70 kgs, as of today weigh in at 93kgs with some feeble attempts at exercise.Being treated badly for so long has impacted on my self esteem and in turn late night snacking to try and fill in the void.

Well meaning friends have advised me to leave this nightmare situation, I did for a few days and started to feel better in myself and it felt natural to exercise and eat better, until the children wanted me back home and I begrudgingly went back for their sake. Reason for marriage turning sour was jealousy of my nurse, i allowed my wife to work in the practice but my wife only wanted to make my nurses life into such a misery that she left, leaving a tribunal which went in my favour as I never wanted the nurse to leave after 15 years service, but my wife has her name on a legal document for bullying and harassment of the employee, my lawyer adVised to leave the house as the next one to be bullied and harassed was me, true enough, nightmare situations unfolded and I sought refuge with food, hence overweight issues and low internal energy.

A personal trainer got me down to 84 kgs but one session was particularly to much and was vomiting after too many crunches that put me off going back, did protein shakes and regular exercise but after that weight went back up again.

Invitation for comment/response to the above,

Regards

KV

I think that you need a new personal trainer. I am sure that you can find someone to motivate you and help you reach your goals without causing you to feel ill.

I believe that there are some personal trainers who post on these pages and they may be able to help too.

If your wife and you are now separated and the marriage dead - maybe a new relationship would give you the motivation that you seek to look after your body.

Welcome to the forum! I struggle with emotional eating too. It's a really hard thing to break. I tend to come here at night and read the forum, or post in my journal on here, to avoid eating or to vent. It's been a big help to me the last few years. Good luck to you! :)

KV, sorry to hear about that. I think having a male nurse would be a good idea. If your wife becomes jealous again of your male nurse, then your wife is the real problem here.

I agree with R1962, maybe a new inspiration would help you become more motivated with your healthy living. Being together just for the sake of your children would not help anyway. You don't want your children to grow up seeing you both full of hatred, jealousy and bitter. In the end, they will just suffer.

I wish you good luck. I hope you find the happiness in all things that you do.

Thanks R1962 for your helpful comments, it's amazing what can happen when start losing weight and regaining inner strength and self esteem, feel more alive for sure.

Thanks Jen for your reply, this is a good place as you say to help stave off unnecessary overeating and look forward to seeing everyone's particular problems resolve in time, especially helping each other overcome similar problems.

Thanks LeandroJ for your reply, a new relationship is the way forward for sure and just be myself rather than being seen as a walking bank ATM machine and object towards many negative feelings are vented on a regular basis, it's a wonder can still practice my profession. Need to get losing the kgs to feel somewhat stronger in myself and find the resolve to leave "home".

your welcome. good luck with lots of positive changes.

You're welcome, KV. You don't deserve to be treated like a walking ATM machine. Well, actually real ATM machines do get out of service sometimes. It's time to think of yourself...for you and your kids' future of course.
