I'm Rachel! I'm 26, happily married, and working on TTC our first baby. Seeing as how it's a new year and all, I'm on a quest to lose some weight...50lbs., to be exact. I may decide to lose more when I make that goal, but for now, that's where I'm at. I'm 5'6", and currently 237lbs. I was relatively thin all of my life, so being this heavy is very hard on me, and I'm finally at the point where I can't live like this anymore. I started gaining weight about 2 years ago...my metabolism slowed down, and my diet became based on convenience instead of nutrition. I LOVE food, and have horrible willpower when it comes to knowing when to stop eating. Unfortunately for me, I'm the worst type of overweight person. I love to eat, and hate exercise. :blush5: I've decided that this year is going to be the year I change that.

I'm here hoping to gain some support, as well as to offer it to other people who are on the same journey as I am. I'm open to any suggestions, tips, whatever you may have for me!

I look forward to meeting all of you soon! ;)

Hi! I'm in a similar situation as yours. I'm 26, currently weigh 219, LOVE food, and hate exercise. I just began this lifestyle change a couple days ago.

I absolutely dread exercising. Especially after the first day I did my work-out dvd and could barely make it through. I'm just trying to view it as something that has to be done everyday, like the dishes or cleaning -- something I really hate doing, but is a necessity. I am hopeful that 1) it will get easier, and 2) when it becomes easier, I'll hate it less.

As far as food goes, do you like to cook? In the past, I'd always cook elaborate and extremely unhealthy dinners for my boyfriend and I because I love cooking. Then after dinner I'd bake homemade cookies. I've had fun this past week looking up awesome healthy recipes (with calorie counts!) and cooking those instead. Baking chicken and steaming veggies alone seems so boring to me. If you spend the time looking, you can find all kinda awesome recipes that don't taste "healthy". The shrimp enchiladas I made last night were as good as an unhealthy food I've ever tasted, and only had 250 calories per serving!

Congrats on deciding to take this step and good luck!
