Hey everyone. I'm a 21 year old male who is about 5-9 and 215 lbs. At my peak about a year and a half ago, I weighed well over 230 lbs. Within about seven or eight months of my peak weight, I managed to get my weight down beneath 200 lbs. for a brief period of time, then started slacking off on exercise and as a result my weight went back up to over 220 lbs., and I've decided to start losing weight again.
I might be in a kind of odd situation here because these days I already eat pretty well because of various dietary restrictions, health problems, and food preferences. I'm used to giving up various foods due to allergies, I love vegetables, and I rarely eat sweets. I already see a nutritionist for my allergies so I am pretty much aware of what I need to do to eat well. Ever since I cut out most red meats and started replacing some grains with more vegetables after I reached my peak weight, my weight has seemed to fluctuate almost exclusively with the amount of exercise I get, recent Times article aside.
My current goal is to drop down to maybe 180 lbs. or so. I did organized athletics in high school and weighed about 165 lbs. when I was in pretty good shape, but 165 lbs. seems like a much longer target than 180 lbs. and I don't want to feel discouraged if I can't get there. I signed up to this forum to hold myself accountable and prevent myself from slipping up like I did before.
Here's to hoping to keep myself on track and maybe make a few friends in the process!
