Hi everyone,
This is my first post here and I just thought I'd introduce myself.

I'm 19 and I'm about 6 foot 1, I weight about 225pounds and I feel really self conscious because of my weight. I'd like to lose about 40pounds I'd say. I've recently started playing tennis, and I'm considering starting swimming, again body issues come in here too, I don't know if I'd even make it into the pool.

Anybody got any advice or tips for me would be great.
 
James, I too am 6'1" but I am 44 and 305. When I was 19 I was also about 225 but very into weightlifting and not really overweight for my frame. I have some experience with swimming and it is great for exercise but not that great for weight loss. There have been some studies that have shown that cooling the body increases appetite. That why most folks are so hungry after a swim but not so after a run or a bike ride. Those things increase body temp and decrease appetite. 225 is my goal weight. Anyhow good luck from Texas
