Hi all

I've just joined. I was wondering, can anyone tell if i am on the right track. I eat 4/6 small meals a day (not sure about the calories, but it's healthy and according to weighless principles) and am trying to go to gym at least 4 times a week, doing 15 min cycling, 10 min rowing, alternating weights (machines) and 10 min walking for cool down. I am 23, 181cm and currently weigh 97kgs.

Also, what's the best food to eat before / after a workout. Carbs or protein? I'm thinking of going to gym at evenings (as its the only free time available) after supper and having a protein shake or equivalent afterwards. Will this be good or bad?

Thanks! http://weight-loss.fitness.com/images/smilies/party.gif

Weighless principles

Sorry, i thought the programme runs internationally. Weighless is like the UK's Weight Watchers - A support group for weight loss. The biggest difference is weighless actually works out individual eating plans and gives it to you in a formula, thus x amount carbs, x amount of low fat proteins etc. I currently eat about 5 carbs a day ( 1 carb = slice of bread i.e), 4 veggies, 4 fruits, a bit of high fat proteins and a bit more low fat proteins (chicken, fish etc.)

I lost 13kgs before (3 years ago) on it, but my lifestyle of the past 6 months wreaked havoc with my body. So i am trying to follow it again, but am going to see a dietitian on Monday.

Welcome. You've definitely got the right idea with the 4-6 small meals per day. I would say go to the gym before you eat supper. Eat some carbs like fruit before you go to the gym and have a protein shake right after your workout. Thats what I do and it's worked for me.

Welcome!
Hi there!

My doctor told me - "grazing" is the best way to eat - small meals all day keeps your metabolism going...
