Hi All

Two words.

Ignore list.

You are asking someone to have a word with me? LOL. It's probably best. I need a spankin. All I do is go around this forum and cause trouble!!

I have had the privilege of seeing biggest loser both in the usa and england.. i think it is great that you lost so much weight and that you are willing and able to give people your advice.. i dont believe certificates and degrees teach you anything more than living thru something and good old experiance .. i hope you dont let people that seem to have nothing better to do than shoot someone down keep you from this board.. yes, you have an ignore button, but i feel you handled it with more class asking to please not speak to you anymore instead of just hitting ignore with no reason...i have only been on the boards a week, and until now havnt seen anyone be attacked.. most people on this board are very kind, and im sorry that you happened on the rarity.. stand your ground.. welcome.. and look forward to chatting with you:)

If my discussion with Jodi is considered an "attack" than I can't imagine how you handle the real world.

Truly amazing to me.

You do realize that my original questions were very legit with regards to the condition of this industry, no?

the reason i said 'attack' is it seemed like no matter what she said, or how many times she asked you to please just let her alone, you kept on coming at her... if it were me, i would have felt like i was under written attack.. i personally felt like you were being judgemental, and this place should not be in the slightest.. there is enough of that in our daily lives.. this should be a place we can feel safe talking about things without being judged.. that's all

Right.

And any "guru" should be able to just prance right in here and spout out misinformation too, right?

This is certainly NOT what Jodi was doing.

However, this is the root of my original questions. I didn't single Jodi out b/c I didn't like her. I always chat with the various "gurus" about their qualifications. It has nothing to do with myself OR the self-proclaimed guru. It has everything to do with the best interest of this great community.

You have not been around long enough to understand. However, this place is a haven for "gurus" trying to make profit from the masses. ;)

this should be a place we can feel safe talking about things without being judged..
For members it is a safe place to talk about things without being judged, and you will never see a member being judged here. but when someone comes in and offers their expertise, and not looking for support for themselves, their qualifications need to be questions.

We get an awful lot of 'experts' around here, that have lost 5 lbs or 50lbs and not always by healthy means - we encourage healthy ways of losing weight around here.. and encourage the questioning of experts

Steve got to the reply buttons seconds before I did... but said pretty much the same thing - Steve's intentions are good (though I wouldn't mind taking him behind the woodshed for a spanking cuz well - that'd be sorta fun :D

we still have the option of handing these 'guru's' money or not... until you get to know someone and see for sure what they are about, i would just mind my own.. but that is just me

Sorry, I actually care a great deal about the members of this forum and the last thing I want them to be treated as is prey.

Again, I don't think you truly have a grasp of the condition this industry is in.

Again, I am not saying this is what Jodi was doing. Simply the root of my original questions.

i took a few mins away from the pc to sort things out, and realize i may have been a lil judgemental myself, and for that i apologise.

I have some questions for the OP:

1) I don't know about the Brit version of Biggest Loser, but my understanding of the US version is that the vast majority of the participants have put back on the weight they lost. Is that true with the Brit version too?

2) How much weight do you think someone should lose each week? On what do you base your answer?

3) Do you think Biggest Loser promotes a healthy, or an unhealthy, view of weight loss and fitness? Why?
