Hi all,
Just wanted to say hello to you all on here & say how impressed I am with the general attitudes and advice given on these forums - It's really encouraged me to join up and involve myself.
Not really sure where to start with why my plans are and what I want to acheive, so I'll just jump right in.
I have always been bigger than average, but never really considered myself to be particularly overweight until about 4 years ago. I moved away from home, to college. I didn't have a very good time there & the weight just sort of escalated!
It all started on the 1st January 2011 - Yeah, yeah, I know - Probably set to be become another one of my "I will do it this time, I promise" routines! I have never, ever lost weight before. Not even the odd pound!
Now, to be totally honest, ordinarily it would be the same as any other, but this year is different. I had an awful 2010 & lost someone very, very close to me - Which made me think long and hard about where I am and what I want. I made the decision that in 2011, I was going to have a good year.
So January came and I started cutting down on calorie intake, drinking a lot more water & eventually started to make use of the gym membership that I have subsidised through my work!
So, here I am at the end of March and I've lost 1 1/2 stone. However, I haven't been as strict or as good as I wish I had been over these 3 months - I'm sort of hoping that, by having some input on here, it will give me some structure and something to focus on updating, so that I can keep tabs on myself!
I've always been a sporty person - I used to swim 7 or 8 times a week, I've done rowing, diving, tennis etc. Getting back in to the sport & exercise has been quite easy for me - I like to push myself & set myself targets when I'm there. I've definitely noticed a difference in ability from January to now, on the cross trainer especially. The problem is actually getting myself there to do it - I don't know why!
My main problem is the food - I love cooking. I don't eat a lot of convenience food, most of my diet consists of fresh vegetables. My main problem area is bread and cheese - I am addicted to fresh bread & love anything that contains cheese! - My other is the portion sizes - I really need to regulate that, I think! But I don't snack & I always eat breakfast and lunch.
Anyway, that's where I am & that's what I've done so far!
Thanks for reading - Here's to the next 1 1/2 stone, eh?
