Hi all - any tips?

Hi all.

Just thought I'd introduce myself a little. I've just finished at university, where I put on a LOT of weight. I was never very slim - I remember being a UK size 12 when I was about 12 years old - but recent memory, I have been around an 18-20 and weigh in at about 18 stone. I have been on diets before and lost a fair amount (managed to get down to 14st10 once, but in very unhealthy, barely eating type way) but always seem to put it back on eventually. Too much temptation at university.

Now I'm 21 and starting to look for a job. I've just started to feel like, Right. I need to do this now. I can do it. So I joined here for a bit of moral support.

I think starting a weight loss diary will be a good idea, but am interested in hearing what has helped you and making friends to talk weight-loss with. Hope all is going well for you x

Hi!

You're off to a good start - you sound motivated!

Most people lose motivation quickly, so I'd suggest as your first task to establish a support system that will refuse to let you give up on yourself when your motivation inevitably slips...it WILL slip. This is okay as long as you have people that can keep you on track.

Find that people that care about you, tell them your goals, tell them WHY you can't let yourself give up, and tell them what they need to say to you when you want to give up.

This will be key to making it last for the long haul!

Good luck!

~Tim
