My name is Richard, I'm 19 years old and I live in Dublin, Ireland. I weigh 23 stone and I am considered morbidly obese , I've been trying to lose weight and I went from 24 stone to 22 stone in a month. Christmas has knocked me off the wagon and now I feel like there is no point in trying. I know I can do it, I just need motivation. I need to make change, I need help, I most definitely have a problem with food. I seek help from a dietician every few months, but if I'm honest that's just words. I say I can do it and don't. I'm lost and need help and maybe other people trying to loss weight can help me get along.

And you took the first step to try and help yourself. You came to the right place for motivation. Read the rules and stickies and start a journal. Try some of the challenges. Looking forward reading your post.

Starting a journal in the weight loss diary section is a great idea... It helps keep you accountable for what you're eating and others can comment and maybe give some helpful advice!

Oh good god, an Irish man. *swoons* Welcome to the forum :D Christmas screws everyone over hun, don't be discouraged and get back on the wagon. Start a food diary here (go to the diary section) and get working!

Firstly- You're awesome! You came on here, and are ready to make the change! Three "woots" for that first step :) :)

Secondly- I can't speak for everyone, but I know I've lied before when I talked about my diet.. "umm...yeah...that chicken was baked, certainly not fried *innocent look*" ...we're human. But as so many people on here have said, when we lie about that stuff, we're only hurting ourselves!

I know I lie because I'm embarrassed and worried people will judge me. This community is a great place because we're all working through to the same goal :) And we can help eachother!

You might find starting the diary, and listing your food you eat (when, how much, and what)...might help you become accountable for your choices! Also, you might want to ask, "well I love {insert recipe}, but I know it's not good for me. Anyone have suggestions?" ...this community is here to help you along the way! And there's so many people here with such fantastic knowledge, advice, and experience!! :)

haha and yeah for dieters christmas really does suck because most people just give in.

You've hit the nail right on the head, I feel like I need to please others but my primarily goal should be for myself. Thanks again and I may start a diet chart here in the next day or so :)
 
Oh, you cal always find a way to lose those weight you gained. You can do it. Just believe in yourself and have a proper diet and exercise.
