Hey, so I just found this site and figured I'd join since I've decided to lose weight. I weigh 165lbs and am 5'8" tall. Last summer I had lost 25lbs and went down to 135, but over the winter months I gained it and an additional 5 back.

Since I was able to lose a bunch of weigh last year, I figure I should be able to do it again. Although it might be harder now since I eat at work. We have meals together and everyone takes turns cooking so I don't have control over what we're having to eat (whereas last year I had a regular job with lunch breaks). That should make it a bit tougher but I'll figure it out. Ideally I'd love to get down to 130lbs, but before that I'm making a goal of reaching 140lbs.

Not sure what to write, but that's my weight loss info in a nutshell.

Hi there. Welcome to the forum.

Is there any way you can influence the rest of your office to eat a little more healthily? I know that my office is very open to eating better meals and it helps a lot to have that kind of support.

I suppose, but it's not really that we eat really unheathly there. We do eat a lot though, like for me lunch is just a sandwich, at work we have to make a full meal, just a sandwich isn't enough. I'm at a group home where the staff eat meals with the residents, so we have to make sure it's stuff the residents will like and eat. One guy, the only things he'll eat for breakfast are scrambled eggs, french toast, or bacon, nothing else, and he's so thin we have to make sure he eats every meal. And when you're making french toast and bacon it's so hard not to have some too! Then of course there's all the quick junk we'll make when no one really wants to cook :p

Welcome.

Welcome to the forum!

Unless it is for some reason unallowed, take your lunches to work with you that way you can control that meal. I guess if it isn't possible you could just control your portions when you have to eat and have healthy snacks on hand to fill in the hunger gaps.

I'm sure you can achieve your goal though, just formulate a plan and stick to it and you will do fine.

Best of luck on your journey.

Yeah, I think I'm just going to try and have smaller portions during meal times at work. It was just easier with my old job since if I didn't buy/bring it, I couldn't eat it. Whereas now, the food is always there. I'll just have to resist temptation and not have seconds :p

Indeed.

Willpower is and always will be a big part of weight loss. You must stick to your guns as often as possible and you will be better off in the long run. Lunch should be the only meal that is of questionable control though, the rest of your meals you should be able to keep a handle on. :)
