Hey, Weight Loss Forum!

Hey, everyone. :)

My name is Michael. I am 18 years old, from New Zealand. :D

I have come to this forum, because I feel that I need to lose a bit of weight before I am confident enough to enjoy Summer at the beach.

Now, I know I'm not really big, but I just have too much fat to be confident enough to take off my top at the beach.

It's eating away at me, because my girlfriend loves the beach, and loves swimming. :(

I weigh 83-85kgs (187lbs?)

So about a week ago, I started eating healthy, and going for runs around my local park field for about 20-30 minutes (I usually do about 10 laps). I find this extremely tough, and I sweat more than I've ever seen ANYONE sweat (I SWEAR! :p)

I'd like to thank this forum so much, because I was looking through before and after photos, and they're all so legit, because other sites that are more official never seem legit, because the USER isn't posting up their own experiences. You are all such a big inspiration, and motivation to me! :D

Anyway, if I keep at my running, and diet, how long will it take to lose about 8kgs? Maybe 10? :)

Thanks! You'll definitely see me posting around in the future. :)

Welcome to the boards, Michael. Weight loss is a tricky thing. There's no set time frame at which a certain amount of weight loss will occur. Just stick to the process and the results will show, eventually :) Coming here everyday is very motivating and keeps you in a healthy mindset.

Much luck to you.

Exercise and eating a certain way will work if you follow advice from a nutritionist. Never diet since it is just that and not a permanent change. You will gain it back on a diet it's the nutrition that will help you keep the weight off .

Welcome to the forums Michael!

A "healthy" goal for weight loss is generally 2lbs a week. Some people will experience the weight loss faster and some slower because what works for some doesn't work quite the same for others.

That said, it sounds like you are on the right track. 30 minutes of moderate physical activity a day is the recommended minimum amount for a healthy lifestyle, and this can come in many forms as physical activty as a broad definition is the act of goal oriented movement. A moderate level could come from a brisk walk, jogging, running, swimming, or anything that gets your heart rate up; I personally love running! And dont worry, if you run on a regular basis (at least 3 times a week) it will get A LOT easier and you will progressively sweat less as the activity becomes easier.

Good luck with your weight loss!

Hi Micheal
I think you're on the right track with the exercise and eating better. Swimming is a great thing to do and in the winter you could join a gym to swim your way to a slimmer you.

Just like to update this thread... I now weigh 178.57lbs (81kg), dropped down from 187-188lbs (85kg)! 4kg down, I wanna lose about 6-8kgs more. :)

Hi Michael welcome to the forum! Just stick with your goal and maybe start a Diary/Journal and log down what you eat each day.
