lol, I know right? To be honest I'm not sure how I wound up at this place, well obviously it had to do with putting food in my mouth, but looking at pictures it seems like I went from a normal healthy weight, to ridiculously overweight over night. I'm committing myself to losing over 100lbs, I don't have any illusions about this being an overnight change; I'm making today the first day of the rest of my life.

Thanks to all those who have come before for lighting the way.
 
well one light in my hand here :D welcome James and congratulations for making a decision to change yourself. it will be hard, it will take time and dedication, there will be ups and downs, but believe me when i tell you that you can and will do it. I went through all the 'diets' in the world and even though they dealt with weight they didn't deal with ME and my issues with food. this time i'm doing exactly that and the journey is getting more beautiful and more adventurous every day.
this site will help you a lot. the support is amazing.
do you have a plan? if no, read through some stickies on how to start, go through some diaries, open your own diary so you can track your nutrition, exercise or just your day or whatever you want to share which might help you lose weight. also check out sites like and

My plan is this: To dramatically reduce my intake of calories, to completely cut out refined and processed sugars, and to drastically reduce the amount of carbs I take in. Couple that with regular cardio and resistance training and we'll see what happens.

It's strange, I started actually doing this a few days ago and the first day I found that I was really hungry, but after a few days I really don’t find myself deathly HUNGRY anymore. We'll see where this goes.

Thanks guys! It's nice to know that there are people who are going through this same journey. It's easy to say, oh I'm going to do this, and that, and never this again...but it's another thing to actually live up that that standard.

I hope to see you all around...well I hope we all get to the point where we're not a-round anymore! :D
 
i have just one question...what do you mean by drastically lowering your calories? don't go too low. check out the first site i gave you in my first post. i think it will give you great insight on how to count calories, and especially how much you should be taking and still lose weight.

I agree. I've been posting in my weight loss journal and a few others have mentioned that as well. I looked up my caloric needs and found that I far, far under what they even recommend for minimum intake.
