Well...Lately I've just been sick of hating myself.

So here I am.

I've been big most of my life. Probably since I was 8. Here I am, 18, still probably about 220 lbs and about 6" tall. I'm not comfortable with myself, and every day is terrible. Just a simple thing like sitting there in my class, I feel uncomfortable. I feel ugly. My body and my mind have been completely drained at times, just from the stress of...living. Does anyone remember feeling that way? So uncomfortable in your own skin, it's tough just to be anywhere near people?

Well... I don't want to feel that way anymore. So I've decided to change.

I've been eating a lot better for the past 7 weeks. Probably still not very healthy, but a nice improvement for me.

So I have some questions...

If I had a little bowl of cereal in the morning, a bag of sunchips and a little gatorade for lunch, and a salad for dinner, is that good?
Is it too much?

If I were to eat like that most of the time, would that be a decent way of eating for me? I'm totally comfortable with it. I get pretty hungry sometimes before lunch, but the chips usually satisfy me until dinner.

And as for exercise...I'm not an active person. I'm wondering if anyone knows of some simple stuff I could do just to get started.

And for my biggest issue, something that's probably been the biggest issue for me for as long as I can remember...
I've kinda got man boobs....
It's weird, even most people who are bigger than me don't have it like I do. Most guys have flatter chests, no matter how fat they may be. But for me, mine seem to point out more than they should, and it makes me feel like complete sh*t. Sorry for the language, that's just the only way for me to describe it.

I don't even like wearing t-shirts alone, I prefer to wear layers, or a hoodie of some sort. And considering I live at the south end of Texas, that's definitely not practical. It's always blazing hot here. So yeah, I get teased for wearing a jacket so much. But to me, that's better than people seeing me without one.

So I definitely want to know if weight loss should help me with that. Or if there are any specific exercises that can help me to tone my chest. I've been occasionally trying to do pushups. Though I can't do much yet.
That's really all I know as far as toning the chest goes, and I don't even think it's done much.

Welcome to the forum.

My best advice for you is to take a few hours and study the exercise and nutrition section here. Pay special attention to the sticky threads.

Start logging your food and drink in FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal and you will see how many calories you are taking in. Log your exercise and you will see what calories you burn. The calorie balance is the weight loss that you deserve.

I have to say that your diet plan does not look good at all to me. I would neither feel well nourished nor satisfied on that.

I used many of my own rules for nutrition as bonuses in a challenge that I recently ran. I think that you could do a lot worse than plan your menu and indeed your project based on the bonuses that I set then.

Ignore all the points and scoresheets as the challenge is over - but I think that the lessons are all well worth you grasping.

As your weight reduces you will lose fat from all over your body. This should shrink the man-boob area and improve things. I am sure that you should be able to find exercises that should help in that area too.

Become more active. Even if it is going for a walk (which was how I started - but I was REALLY big) - or doing some form of sport. Exercise involving some form of resistance is really beneficial too.

The important thing is that there are lots of really beneficial things that you can do today that will bring your weight loss dreams one step nearer to a reality.

Please stop hating yourself. Whatever size we are - we deserve to feel proud of being the good person that we are (or try to be).

Good luck with your project.
