I'm a personal trainer and I've been asked the same question thousands of times by beginners so I know that good information is needed. Feel free to use me as a resource for nutrition and weight loss advice.
I gotta agree with Steve. If you want to help, then jump in and start answering questions and providing useful information. Otherwise all you're doing is soliciting business by announcing over and over again that you're a trainer an want to help.
If you want to help .. then help.
If all you're going to do is self-promote, then please do so elsewhere.
Being new to something implies that you might look around and read the rules before jumping in with both feet. I understand that you're new ... but common sense says you take some time and get a feel for the place. It's just like a conversation at a bar or a party - you don't just insert yourself in the middle of a conversation and start saying "I'm a trainer I'm here to help." You listen for a bit and add to the conversation. Forums are the same. Become a part of the community - part of the group. People will be more willing to listen to you.
If you are genuinely knowledgeable and your intentions are good - then we really need you to help people with their queries. The place is full of vulnerable people who are looking for help. People post queries all the time.
Unfortunately we get visited by people that see the forum as an opportunity to get in some free advertising. The result is that the folk that have been here a while (and look out for the more vulnerable folk) treat strangers with a degree of suspicion until they get to know them better...
People who prove themselves are respected for their contribution to the community.
