Hey, welcome to the forum.

1-2 pounds a week is realistic. All you really have to do is cut out 500-1000 calories under your maintenance. There are 3500 calories in a pound so you can do the math in that regards.

A few jump starts that will really help you could be cutting out sugary drinks, cutting our any unnecessary snack times and find low fat/sugar alternatives to what you eat. If any of those apply to you, then you can set yourself up to 1 pound of loss per week without too much effort. Although that's just good for a few pounds then you have to start making some real life changes.

If you provide your height and weight we can offer more specific tips as to how many calories you can eat for weight loss and how much weight loss you should be aiming for.

That's right even though most people want to lose any where between 3 to five pounds per week. Always remember slow and steady is the key. Because any one of us can go to the bathroom and lose a few pounds, but those pounds always come back. Losing solid fat (roughly 1 or 2 pounds a week) will make a more long lasting achievement because you wont gain the weight back as fast...... or hopefully at all - Smile.

This info can help find your BMR so that you know what you can get away with in the calorie department. Me for example, at 5'6" and hovering at 200 pounds, I can do up to around 1600 a day and still lose 2 pounds a week. I really wouldn't try to go for more than two a week, and then learn to be thankful if you get one. If you can lose a little weight at a time at a nice steady pace it's more likely to stay off than if you try to lose too much at once.

Loved the way you put that because it's so true, :)
