hey new need help

ok my name tom im 24 year old male im at 265 pounds and im 5'11 and i want get down to 200 pounds and i go to the gym at night but i been reading that it no good to go work out at 12 at night and ur body not goin burn much and i use to smoke and i did it i quit i kicked that nasty **** out and glade ive goting to drink water and cut my soda drink back a ton and just need help with what to eat and what to do at the gym to help bc when i been goin i got more bigger and dunno why so anyone want help me plz
