I'm Amy! I joined this site because I recently commited myself to a new, healthy lifestyle. I went through my entire high school career being "the fat girl" and I want my life after high school to be different. My entire life has been a struggle with my weight and self acceptance. I've decided I'm sick of not being able to wear the clothes I want, of not being able to go out for a jog, of not being able to live. I want change.

I got this crazy notion to buy the Wii Fit one day so I could work out in my house... Gyms and fitness centers are a bit intimidating because everyone there seems to already be on the fit train! Imagine my surprise when the game told me I'm too heavy for it. I spent 3 weeks cheating it using the towel trick on the balance board, and FINALLY today I decided to just see for laughs if I could get on it, and HEY! I can use it now. I weighed in at 321 pounds. I'm 5'11, so I don't look that heavy, but there you have it.

I hope to get to know some of you, and I hope that I can document my journey to help give people who are struggling like I was some hope and inspiration.

It has 5 categories: Aerobic, Strength, Yoga, Balance and mini games.

It works so that you unlock higher difficulty levels once you've improved on the activities. ^_^ It keeps track of calories and graphs out everything. It also has room for if you do extra activities outside of the Wii Fit so you can accurately see where you're at. The only downside is the balance board and its weight limit...
 
Hi my name is Kristy and I am new too... I like you Amy decided I was tired of not being able to wear the clothes I want or to even go for a walk. I lost 30 lbs about a year ago but came to a stand still because I had a total hip replacement and "Got lazy" lol Almost 3 weeks ago I started a "NEW Challenge" for the next 90 days I want to lose 25 lbs, 20 inches from my waist and to workout atleast 3 days a week because after the 90 Days I want to run. I haven't ran since I was a kid so it's kind of personal lol So if you ever want to chat more or whatever just let me know. Are you on Facebook?

Hello Amy!

Among other sports, I also use the Wii fit! I had (and still have) to use the same trick with the towel, I've been using it like that for 3 months now without problems.
Wii fit together with Walking, mountain biking and cardio have made me lose 16Kg until now, and I can tell you, the Wii fit makes my heart rate go up as much as those other exercises :)

I had to make one modification for that though; in the beginning I just used to board and that was enough, but once you get a little bit in shape, the board is just not high enough any more. Therefore, I built a 15cm platform under it to make it higher. However, I have discovered that you can also purchase these platforms ready-made.

My favourites are the aerobic exercises (stepping, running, hoola-hoop) and the strength training, they really get my heart going!
