Hello everyone. My name is Chelsey and Im 24 years old. I live in Michigan and I have been overweight since I can remember.

Im about 5'7'' and I weigh 357 lbs. I have decided to make a change with my life and I have dropped down from 376 lbs to 347, then I stopped eating right and exercising the way I used to and I came back up to 357.

Im back on track now, however, and am looking for some sort of support. My family isnt much help..but Im definately going to stay on track this time!

Welcome to the forum, You will find a lot of support here but would suggest you start a diary in the diary section to log your food, exercise and how your feeling about your weight loss journey.

I dont have any sort of a strict plan right now. Im just trying to go day by day. As of right now I have cut out my old eating habits and I have replaced them with much better ones. I used to eat out atleast four times a week..I would probably eat two times the regular amount of a serving size. Not to mention Ice cream about three times a week. I never exercised. I would just sit at home and go online or lay around and watch movies...

Heres what I have been doing so far..

I have been eating a lot more veggies and fruit. I wake up and I usually have a bowl of Raisin Bran and maybe a peice of fruit..then up until lunch I will have either a special k bar or some sort of veggies/fruit..then I will eat lunch, which varies everyday..but it is always a healthy choice, then I have another snack of fruit/veggies between lunch and dinner..for dinner, I usually have a lean cuisine. I try to make lunch my largest meal of the day, that way I have time to work it off before I go to bed.

Exercise-wise: I have began walking my dog a few blocks everyday. I only have been going a few blocks because my dog is also overweight and she isnt used to much exercise so I dont want to take her for too long. I also ride my exercise bike for two miles and I go on the treadmill for ten minutes. I alternate between walking for two minutes, then jogging for two minutes.

I want to encorporate more exercise because I dont think Im doing enough..but Im not used to exercising much so I want to start off slow.

Welcome cpuslim

It sounds like you are making a good start with your strategies. You can finetune all that while you are here and on your diary.

You will learn lots of weight loss stuff by hanging around here.

Ah so your doggie needs to lose weight too. Like us, as someone else around here says, the main thing for dogs and people is diet. She says diet is 90% and exercise is 10% or something like that. I think its true.

With animals they say to cut back on what you give them by 10%. Not more as they will be starving and you can't explain to a poor little dog why they can't have more.

You must not feed your dog sweets. Only dog food. Treats for a dog should only be healthy things like fresh meat.

I have a cat whose food i am in charge of. I feed him a can of whiskers every day. Once a week i try to give him a fresh food meal. It might be liver, or prawns or heart or some other sort of fresh meat. He loves it.

I would never ever give my dog or cat chocolates.

We have a dog too. She's a bit tubby but she's my dad's dog so i can't do anything about what she eats. But the main thing for her is to have a walk every day. She loves the beach. Dogs need a walk for stimulation as much as for exercise.

oops sorry, as usually i've gone on much more than i meant to.

Welcome to the forums! Congrats on starting your journey! It is so hard to do, but will be so worth it. I find that I have a big problem on my two days off. I get bored, then I find myself thinking about food. I ended up scrubbing my tub yesterday, trying not to think about it. lol
Good luck!

I think you've made some good positive changes to start with... As fortyfour said, you can finetune things as you go. Just remember that consistency is key... the more you stick with your plan of a healthier diet and regular exercise, the more results you will see in the long run!

Welcome! sounds to me like you're doing pretty good! stick around :)
After a couple weeks your dog should get more used to walking, just walk it a little bit more everyday, I have a dog who is my baby and recently had a accident, he couldnt play for 8 months and wasnt able to walk much, we had to carry him up and down the stairs. But after his leg amputation we had to walk him more and more everyday and he slowly got used to it, and gained muscle :)
also, remember dogs are a great workout tool! Its good for you and the dog, There is a sign in my vet office that has a picture of a dog, under it says " Think of me as a tredmil with legs!" :) good luck!! you CAN do this!
