Kind of nervous, but I thought I would just jump in.
I'm Kate, 21, a college student majoring in Latin! I've actually lost A LOT of the weight I am meant to. In 2004 I weighed 260 pounds at only 5'5, but now I am down to a comparatively healthy 145-150! Except I'm sure a lot of you know that those last few pounds are MISERABLE, and I want to get off about 20-25 lbs and of course raise my general fitness level in the process.
I always get a little weepy at a TV advert that says the problem with dieting is that when you're on a diet, you stay at home and eat alone because I've found that to be very true for me, and it is especially bad because I have been at it for what feels like forever. Watching after my weight and health has become very life consuming for me, though, and a huge problem with overcoming the "FOOD ADDICTION" is that food is everywhere, and I often find it is easier to stay at home and exert stringent control over my diet and myself than to actually go out and brave wave after wave of temptation. I think after going at it alone for so long I am ready to get involved in some sort of community, and I look forward to exchanging thoughts with some of you!
