Hey guys! I wanna start out saying that i've read this board for awhile now and have finally decided to join up. You all seem so supportive and understanding here. Well, my name is wes, I am 5'9 and weigh about 225 lbs. I am 30 years old. I was a skinny kid that grew larger through my teenage years. I was about 210 when i graduated high school. I started working out and dieting when i was 19 and lost about 40 lbs. I felt good and looked good. I kept the weight off for about 5 years. Then i got married, had kids, stopped smoking, and got a less physical job. All of this around the same time in life. I have gained back alot of weight. My high was 240 but im back down to 225 at this point. I am going to be back at 165 - 170 or bust trying this year. I hope to be able to talk to others who have been through the same things. Also it seems harder to loose now that i have a family and responsibilities than it was when i was 19 and single, lol. thanks for reading my story!

Hey, well a quick update. I did a terrible job last year at losing the weight. i lost a bit was down to around 215 then got lazy and fell back into my old routines. back to 240. Well this year i am right back to trying again. I am doing pretty well, im down to about 223. I am more determined this year though. Once i set my mind it has been a lot easier this time. My fear is though, that ill do like i always do. I always reach about 215 and start thinking well im doing a great job now it wont hurt to have cheeseburgers, fries and some ice cream. We all know what happens at that point, lol. I snowball back into my old habits. Well this time im determined to beat the 215 devil that haunts me. every year i get that far and quit but this time i will not let that happen. I will see 200 before summer. Maybe i can take my shirt off thsi year without feeling like crap for letting myself go. I still read this site for inspiration. You guys all seem like such a great help for each other. Here i have no support system. I wont let that stop me though. I look forward to being able to post pics in the before and after section.

Hey Wes,

I am about the same height as you. I was at the same weight as you were about 2 months ago. I am now (as of yesterday) at 214 lb. I know that I will need to change habits permanently. That does not mean that I won't the occasional stuff I love - beef/sausage french bread sandwich with fries, beer, sweets. But I know they are going to be OCCASIONAL not usual. Nothing in my diet will be out of bounds. I know I am hunkered down for the long stretch.

You need to know that you are in it for the long haul and you will always need to watch it. I am 53 years old and I am a good test case for you.

Keep up the good work.

hey thats awesome! I did beat that 215 devil this year. I am currently at about 200 lbs. I still slide off the track from time to time but i always get back up and keep going. my goal weight now is 175. i will soon be there i just know it. i am just getting back on the horse so lets see what this round brings for me. i am hoping for about 8 to ten pounds a month.
