Hey everyone.. Hoping to lose 60 pounds

Hey everyone.. I have just found this forum, and joined right away.

I've been having a lot of trouble with my weight my whole life (I'm turning 18), and so has my mother and younger sister.

I am currently about 5'9 and I weigh 230 pounds. I gained a lot (30 pounds) when I moved to Newfoundland from Nova Scotia, as where i live now buys a lot of junk food like chocolate, chips (my best friend/enemy, especially salt and vingear :drool5:) So i really need to start taking it off.. as 230 is wayy too much for me.

Anyway, I'm hoping to meet a lot of awesome people, and get help, advice and support to help me reach my goal. In turn, I hope I can offer some help in certain areas to people to help them reach theirs. :)
 
Hiya! I'm right around the same stats as you. I'm 5'7" and 227lbs. I used to be 280lbs, guh. Anyway, I just want to say good luck and don't listen to the people who promote unhealthy diets! The person above me mentioned a "detox," aka starving yourself. Don't do it. When I started losing weight, I cut my food intake too drastically and ended up messing my metabolism up. I gained about 15lbs back so now I'm trying to fix myself by eating more.

Right now I'm eating 1800 calories a day and I still lose about 7 pounds a month! So take it from me, don't do anything drastic to lose weight. Just make healthier choices! :)
