Hey everybody

I'm new to this forum and I would just like to talk about my struggles and see if anyone has any advise to share with me. I'm 29 year old wife and mother of 3. I weigh 114 lbs but I have a lot of flab going on around the lower belly and mostly my arms that I can't seem to get rid of. I work out 6 days a week and I eat a descent diet (not great). I'm trying to lose 6 more pounds and I'll be happy but I'm struggling cause my husband and children go without sugar in the house and I want to stop eating sugar so badly but I can't seem to stop. I don't eat fish or any kind of seafood. I love fruit and veggies but I also love eating fast food. I can't seem to break the habit of eating bad things and I know this is the main reason why I can not drop these last 6 lbs and tone up.

I'm sorry for rambling on and on. I'm just lost and discouraged and I feel like giving up. :willy_nilly:

Hi Rossgrl83, welcome to the forums! I hope you enjoy your stay here. I'm not sure about the flab, did you get it from losing a lot of fat? someone more qualified than me will have to answer. I have lots of loose skin too from losing fat but I rather have that than the fat!

As for the food, I can only relate how I handled it. I Googled all the bad things sugar and fast food do to the body and that alone was enough to make me give it up. Of course that makes for sticky situations with people around me but, I figure hey it's my body and I'm going to do what's best for it. You don't want to grow older and get less and less fit and unhealthy, it doesn't have to be that way.

I think you need to look at what you're trying to do as something positive as opposed to 'giving up the things you enjoy'.

I love chocolate, beer, crisps, pizza, fried food. But do I love them more than the feeling I get when I stand on the scales and see I have lost another pound - hell no! Or the feeling of putting on a piece of clothing you haven't been able to wear for a while and realise it fits or is now too big! :)

Good luck!

Welcome to the forum.

Good advice from both Knotty and Josh.

You do not mention your height - but I have to say that 114 pounds does not sound particularly heavy to me... Are you sure that you need to lose any weight at all. What is your BMI or your percent body fat?

I am not denying that there would be benefits to your health from cutting sugar and take-aways - but I am not sure that it is the 6 pounds that is making you dis-satisfied with your figure...

I think that you may well need toning rather than weight loss. Your posting is very reminiscent of postings of people who are deemed to be skinny fat... I think that exercise is your answer.

I suggest that you read the following thread - it may help you settle in and make friends

Good luck with your project.
