Hello all,
My name is Raven (yes, it's actually my real name), and I'm embarking on what I hope will be a life-changing journey to my goal weight of 115 lbs. I'm 21 years old, 5'3, and I've been hovering between 140 and 170 lbs. since high school. I looked great between 140 and 150, because I was relatively in shape and toned, but since having my son in November of 2006, it has been an uphill battle to keep my weight under control. I reached my highest weight ever, 184 lbs., last month. I've made a few halfhearted attempts to lose the weight (a couple of weeks on a half-a**ed south-beach diet - where i lost 10 lbs. and then caved in, a few days of really intense exercise here and there), but due to depression, work, and other personal variables... I lost my will to lose the weight. I decided a few weeks ago to take better care of myself in general (not just losing weight), and by making a few small changes in my diet, have lost 10 lbs.
It isn't much, but I continue to encourage myself to try to do the right thing every day. I used to be one of those "all or nothing" types, and if I gave in to temptation even once, I completely gave up better eating habits and exercise altogether. Now, I am truly understanding that it is a lifelong commitment, and I am ready for the undertaking. My goal is to reach 115 lbs. by July of 2009, and I am confident that I will be able to succeed. I'm looking forward to sharing this experience with all of you.
Cheers, and best wishes to all!

P.S. - The photo attached is of me at 173 lbs., and please excuse the bad hair/pajamas - it's actually the only full body photo I have for now!
