just stumbled on the site and thought it would be a good one to join. I look forward to talking.

I for one hate the word diet. I have tried them all but every time you go back to eating normal I put it back on. I have chosen instead to eat healthy, well balanced meals and managed to drop 30 lbs so far. I didn't do it in a month but I have managed to prevent an increase in weight for 3 months + so far. I look forward to the next 30 lbs!

I have found that using an online meal planner has worked wonders and I wish I would have found it a long time ago.

That's it for now

Welcome to the forum. Well done on your weight loss to date - and good luck with the next stage of your project.

You didnt mention exercise in your posting. I have found regular exercise to make a major difference in both my rate of weight loss and my ability to eat enough to stick to the new regime long term. I have been on my project for nearly 29 months now. I will have to be on it for life though as I have to work hard for maintenance too.

For me I have to think of my weight loss / control project as a lifestyle change rather than a diet. Many of us consider a diet to be a short term fix before we go back to eating the way that we did before - i.e. "normally". We need to think of it as adopting a new lifestyle which includes a change of attitude towards food and activity.

Welcome.

I agree with your thoughts about "dieting" and eating healthily. I find that I do best when I just watch my calories and eat real, healthy foods.

I also agree with Omega! Exercise has made a huge difference for me - not just in helping me lose weight, but in helping me reshape my body.

Exercise

I agree 100% about the exercise. Like I said above, I hate the word diet but I hate the word exercise even more.

I do it but I hate it. My wife is an inspiration to me, she walk at least an hour/day and eats very good.

I find the elliptical in front of the tv tolerable.

It is great that you have an inspirational role model at home. Many of us have not had a life long love of exercise. I guess that if we had - those of us that have been very big would have never got that way.

Forcing ourselves for the good of our health is good. Naturally it is better if we can find a form of exercise that we actually enjoy. We are that much more likely to stick to it over the long term. The old me would have never guessed in a month of Sundays that I would enjoy aerobics. As you feel more comfortable in a slimmer body it may be worth your while to experiment with lots of different activities in the hope of finding something that you enjoy too.
