I was just looking around the web to find a forum I could ask on. Well, about be, it was about a year ago that I decided to try and lose weight. I was topping the scale at 300 pounds. Since then I have lost 85 pounds, but seem to have hit a wall or something. Any suggestions for losing the last 30 pounds or so?

We'll need a bit more information than that. What is your age, height and sex?

What is your nutrition like in terms of calories?

What is your exercise like?

When is the last time you took a break from your regimen?

A bit more about me

I am male, about 6 feet tall, 30 years old
For breakfast I usually have a serving of cereal or oatmeal. The last few mornings it has been a SlimFast shake.
For lunch it is almost always another SlimFast shake
Dinner depends on what my wife makes. I usually try to keep my
calorie intake at around 1800 to 2000.
As far as exercise I do Power 90 or Tae Bo every day. Then Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday I do weight training. I also walk on my lunch break for about 30 minutes.

Where are you getting the other calories from because unless your dinner is huge you are not getting 1800 calories a day with that tiny breakfast and lunch. Also, where is the protein your body needs? Slimfast doesn't have very much protein and neither does oatmeal. I use slimfast almost every day but more for a snack in between meals.

Good point. The more I think about it the more I realize that about 80% or more of my calories are taken in after 4:30 or 5:00 most days. Also, I tried to figure out about how many calories I had yesterday and it was probably about 1300-1500 and around 1000 or more of that was after 5:00. I think I see a problem here.

Eating a majority of your calories later in the day is not going to cause you to retain or gain weight when you're in a calorie deficit.

Especially one as large as the one you're currently in.

You say you're currently sitting at roughly 215 lbs and eating 1900ish calories per day. That's roughly 8 calories per pound of body weight which is quite low given your activity level. Not so low that you need to be concerned but low to the point that you should be losing.

That said, I'd really zero in on how many calories you're *really* eating. Winging it is fine if it's working. In your case it's not which leads us to believe your actual intake is higher than your supposed intake.

And please don't read me wrong... I'm not suggesting you're lying. People in general have a very poor understanding of how much they're actually eating is all.

I'd suggest purchasing an affordable food scale. Digital is nice. And sign yourself up for an account on . Hopefully this will shed some light on your issue.

Really track what's entering your mouth (food and drink including alcohol) for a solid week. Make sure this includes your weekend eating too. And don't behave differently simply b/c you're tracking yourself b/c that wouldn't help us or you uncover the problem and you'll still be spinning your wheels.

Lastly, as noted above, calories aren't the only critical factor. What comprises those calories in terms of macro and micronutrition also matter and you're diet is severely lacking in that department from what I can tell.

Oh yea, and when is the last time you took a break from dieting and exercise?
