Here we go, hold on tight and don't let go!

Hello!

I am sitting here reading through journals and decided to begin mine, even though today hasn't been the best beginning, but I know as I sit here that I need NEED to begin this for the last time.

I am 23, and have been overweight my whole life, up and down, 215, 130, 220, 180, 190, 200, now up to 230. Highest I have ever been, and do I ever look it. I can't even handle myself in the mirror these days. I have a wedding that I am in the wedding party in September and I want to look good for it, so for now it is my motivation as well as being healthy.

Hmm, what else. I dont eat red meat just because I don't like the taste, and it grosses me out. If I could eat one thing for the rest of my life it would be KD (Mac n cheese). I am addicted to carbs, cheese and sugar. I have an OBSESSION with Ranch dressing, it goes on everything! Find me something it wouldn't taste good with and I would be really impressed. I like beer and booze way too much and am staying away for personal and emotional and money reasons. I like the gym, but when I lose motivation I stop going, like now - I haven't been in over a week but before was going every day. I love to travel and have been all over the place. I feel lost and have no direction in life, but what young person these days doesn't.

ANYWAYS,

So here I begin. Age: 23 - Weight: 230 - Height: 5'8
I would love to be 200 by the wedding (September).
I would LOVE to be 150 by next year at this time.

Breakfast:
Whole wheat toast with scrambled egg/mozza/tomato/redpepper/onion
Lunch:
Whole wheat penne with tomato sauce (bottled...) with mixed fresh veggies
Snack:
reduced sodium trisquits (around 15....)
Dinner:
Whole wheat spaghetti with tomato sauce and mixed veggies (made by roommate)

I know I need to focus on more vegetables and adding more proteins. I know I need to snack on yogurts and fresh veggies and things like humus and eggs and almonds. I get it, I know how it works, I have done it. But its hard, its an addiction. A sick cycle. Hopefully this time I can break it.

:)

OMG, I could live the rest of my life on cheese!!! So many flavors all so perfect!!! But I know in order to reach my goal I have to make sure I don't over do it, as I'm sure you know too :] doesn't mean I'll cut it out all together though hehehe.

And ranch dressing..... MMMMMMMMMMM!! it used to to look like a sea of ranch on my salads, now I eat them with a scoop of cottage cheese(so good), plain, or just a light trail of ranch.

Good luck and I'm sure by the wedding you'll be looking and feeling much better!

If you are at 230 lb, getting to 200 lb by September is so doable (as is 150 lb) this time next year. As I can tell from your post, you think that you are addicted to food (or at least think that your craving is unbreakable). The fact is that when you see that when you eat less calories per day than your body needs, you will lose weight.

When you start being in control of losing weight , the food will not have the same grip on you. I have proved it again to myself this winter.

You can do it!!! Your goals are very reasonable! I am a carb n cheese addict too.. (not to mention the booze...) Planning out what I am going to eat ahead of time has really helped me... Just take it day by day! :hurray: You are going to do great!

Thanks everyone for stopping by with your encouraging words :D Was great to see when I logged on :)

Today has been a great day so far. I had to work early in the morning so have been up since 530 AM.

Breakfast:
Spinach egg white feta wrap from starbucks
Tall nonfat chai tea latte
Snack:
Nonfat organic strawberry yogurt
Lunch:
Spinach salad with cucumber, onion, celery, tomato, mixed beans, boiled egg, 2 tsp of goat cheese and LF ranch dressing with a piece of whole wheat toast

I have yet to have dinner. I am going to my moms house with my BF and brother and his wife and the plan is to have pizza. I have put in a request for a side salad so that I just have one or two pieces. Yikes, pizza! I believe the crust will be whole wheat, so not that bad.

I spent an hour at the gym today. 35 on the eleptical, 10 on the stair climber which tired me right out today, and 15 minutes on the reclined bike. Getting back into the gym after around 8 days off. Felt great. :)

Thoughts: Cutting back on starbucks items which is hard considering I work there... focus on weights at the gym, and drink more water!

Well, been a couple days since I have written. That is the one thing I am horrible at, keeping journals. :(

I haven't been too bad these past couple days. I can sum up the eating as I usually tend to eat the same(ish).

Breakfasts have been:
2 hard boiled eggs smashed up on whole wheat toast with a bit of mayo/pepper/oregano
Lunchs have been:
Salads with romaine, tomato, beans, bean sprouts, egg, cucumber, onion, shredded cheddar, and LF ranch dressing with a banana or peice of whole wheat toast
Dinners have ranged from Mr. Noodle, to hummus and veggies, to chicken/veg/baked potato

I have been snacking on horrible things which needs to change. Cookies and doughnuts (just bites here and there) as when you work at Starbucks, there is quite the sample of delicious things to snack on... :(

I have been at the gym Monday, tuesday, thursday, friday and I plan to go today. Which I am very impressed with myself :)

I will not be weighing in till mid April, and am hoping for at least a 3 pound drop... 5 would be awesome. I can already feel the muscles in my legs toning up which I love!

Anyways, I will try to update more often for myself so I can track this. :)

Update on today.

Breakfast: 2 hardboiled eggs mashed w/mayo on whole wheat toast
Lunch: Homemade lentil/veggie soup with half a ciabatta bun
snack: mini can of coke and 1/2 cup of homemade mac n cheese (leftovers from a big roommate dinner I missed)
dinner: whole wheat penne with veggies in tomato sauce with small bit of grated cheddar cheese.

Skipped the gym today because I was outside gardening for 2.5 hours. Exhausting! I might go later tonight, but will most likely be looking at tomorrow for the gym.

Thoughts: Need to drink more water. Back off those carbs!!

Yesterday went well. I felt good about it, minus a cupcake and cookie, lol.

Breakfast: Banana/nonfatmilk/protein/espresso(1shot) smoothie at 6am
Mid Breakfast: 9am: Spinach feta wrap from Starbucks
Lunch: Veggie burger on whole wheat bagel with LF mozza, mayo/mustard, tomato and onion
Snack: 1 oatmeal cookie 1 cupcake (was at a friends talking about her wedding)
Dinner: 1 cup of whole wheat cooked pasta, tomato sauce, red pepper/broc/cauli and a small salad w/ LF ranch
Snack: Popcorn - 1 cup

Went to the gym for over an hour. Did 25 on elliptcal (280 cals) 20 on stairmaster (260 cals) and 15 on the recline back (125 cals).

Thoughts: BACK OFF THE CUPCAKES/COOKIES AND NO ONE WILL GET HURT!!!

Today :)

Breakfast: 1 hardboiled egg smashed with tiny bit of mayo on whole wheat toast
Lunch: 1 cup leftover pasta from night before and a banana/nonfat/protein/espresso smoothie
Dinner: To be decided! Will update later. I am thinking a big salad with chicken.

Going to the gym today, will update later on that as well.

:)

Oh man, I hear you! I remember the day that I discovered that you can dip pizza in ranch dressing. O_O Carbs, cheese AND ranch? Hello perfect meal! Don't do that anymore, though. Ranch is a hard, hard habit to break. But you can still have carbs and cheese, just limit them and try whole grain bread and pasta, and low fat cheese.

I eat them with a scoop of cottage cheese(so good)

 I would never have thought of that! I'm going to try that! I can't eat salad just plain, but even the ff dressing has so much sugar. Thanks for the tip!!!

Mizzie! Thanks :) the thought of losing ranch from my life brings a tear to my eye! lol

I stuck to my foods today. I did have a cup of coffee with some raw sugar and nonfat milk. I am also currently drinking some peppermint tea, and had a cup of green ginger tea this morning.

Dinner: Salad w/ romaine, cucumber, red pepper, mixed beans, goat cheese, and LF ranch dressing w/ a piece of whole wheat toast with natural PB

I walked to work (30 min) and am planning on hitting the gym at 7. Will update later if I make it or not.

Thoughts on the day: Pants seem to be getting baggyish, which is awesome. I am very low on groceries and a little scared about what to eat tomorrow. I find that when I am low on groceries I tend to gravitate towards bread and fill me up quick things.

A little mad at myself for not going right to the gym from work, but felt like coming home and eating was smart as I had not had enough calories for a good workout.

I did make it to the gym last night for an hour. 30 on elliptical 20 on stairmaster then headed home. Not bad, but could have been better. Also had half a piece of bread with some skim mozza on it when I got back from gym as well as a cup of peppermint tea!

Today!

Went for a 30 minute walk this morning and am about to embark on another one to work.

Breakfast: 1 cup oatmeal with homemade applesauce, cinnamon and 1tsp of brown sugar
Lunch: Organic red pepper hummus and 40% less fat triscuits and a stalk of celery
Dinner: Banana/nonfat/protein powder/espresso smoothie.

I am without groceries and broke :( So hard to keep on track when this happens. Cant wait to get out and get a bunch of fresh veggies and groceries soon!

No gym today, taking a break today, but back on tomorrow!

Missed a day or two.. and to be honest cant really remember how it went, so ill just update from today!

Breakfast: 1/2 whole wheat bagel with PB
lunch: banana/protein/nonfat milk shake
snack: whole wheat spinach feta egg wrap from sbucks
dinner: triscuits and skim mozza cheese, 1 cup of mango juice (all natural bolthouse)

WOW, i did not eat enough today... horrible... This is what happens when I am broke. I have money to get some groceires tomorrow so I can't wait!

Exercise: 30 min walk to work, 30 minute walk home. 45 minute at the gym (30 stairmaster, 15 elliptical).

No wonder I was feeling faint at the gym.. totally did not eat enough.

THOUGHTS: drink more water! veggies veggies veggies!

I always go to the gym without my pass. They should be able to look you up on their computer system - if ever you forget it again.

You're doing SO WELL.
I'm really inspired by your meals and your control.
Just a small slice of that cheese cake is all your need but i'm glad you're allowing yourself to have some. Easter comes but once a year.
