Hello all,

I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm from Canada, and I just stumbled upon this website. It is great, with a lot of people trying to be healthy! I'm in the process of losing weight, I'm down 15 lbs from my heaviest. My first goal is to lose 3 more lbs, but I'm not sure that will be enough for me. I really want to wear a bikini this summer! ;)

Anyways, I'm hoping to be able to get to know more of you soon!

Hii!!!

We are very similar in size and weight! I assume you're a bit shorter than me based on your ticker BMI!

Congratulations on the weight loss!! What have you done to lose the weight?

My current goal is just 3.5 pounds down from where I am now, too! We cean totally motivate each other!

Glad to have you here and GOOD LUCK with your goals!

It's nice to meet you! Congratulations of the weight you've lost as well!

Yes, I'm just 5'0'' tall. That's why I'm thinking I may want to lose more weight than my ticker shows, but I won't think about that yet! I've always kept my weight goals small (~5lbs at a time) so I don't get discouraged and give up.

Most of my weight was lost because I added exercise into my life at the beginning of January, when I was 127lbs. I try to workout 3 or 4 times a week, doing 30 mins of cardio (jogging, elliptical or recumbent bike), and 15-20 mins of weights.

Other than that I've made only few small changes to my eating habits- I don't put sugar in my tea, no pop or juices, and I try to drink at least a liter of water a day. But my weight is not coming off as quickly as it did, and I'm finding it hard to motivate myself to work out.

How have you lost your weight? Any tips to stay motivated?

I've done almost exactly what you've done.

In addition to that, I log my calories on a calorie counting website and I eat between 1000 and 1400 a day. I know it's not recommended to go that low, but for some reason I feel like it's okay for me!

I didn't get a gym membership until the end of February, but I've hit the same "plateau" that you have and I'm having a hard time losing weight now!

I don't drink anything aside from water (and every once in awhile, skim milk), and I drink at least 2 liters per day.

The best motivation tip I have is to just stay with your plan and don't make excuses! Are you noticing that your body looks better even though the weight isn't coming off like it used to? I find that to be a little motivating, since I can't really use the number on the scale as motivation anymore!

Is this the first plateau that you have hit? I hit one after I lost 6lbs, and stayed the same weight for almost 3 weeks. But I did notice my body changing still, just like you mentioned. That's what kept me going, and then the pounds started dropping again. But now I'm not noticing any changes, so I think I need to up the intensity of my workouts.

Which calorie counting website do you use?

try fitday.com

if you keep changing your exercise routine, you will always keep your body guessing and will keep ya from hitting plateaus..

Yes, this is the first I have hit. How did you get the pounds to start coming off again?

I, personally, use one called fitwatch.com. I wouldn't recommend it, just because I've found others that are better. Like Mike suggested, try fitday.com!

Thanks Mike for the site, I'm checking it out now :)

Kimmy, I didn't change anything when I stopped losing the first time. I felt like giving up my exercise routine (Thinking: What's the point??) But I didn't!

I think also part of it was my weight training, I noticed my muscles getting bigger and stronger, and the rest of my body was toning up. Muscle weighs more than fat, so I could have been losing fat and gaining muscle, and that would make the scale not move.

Don't give up, the scale will go down eventually!

We can do this ResV! We've taken the first step in deciding we want to be healther. And we've taken the second step as well; joining this forum! I've only been here a few hours, and I can't believe the amount of support and help I've gotten in this thread! It's amazing!:biggrinjester:

I keep thinking about what you said about not losing weight for 3 weeks! I've only been stuck here for about 8 days (still sad to me), but I'm going to stick it out and stay on top of everything and hope that that same thing happens to me that happened to you!

I'm working harder than ever at the gym! I am definitely noticing my muscles starting to tone up...my tummy even looks good (when I tighten it up - haha)

Anyway, let's keep going! We can do this!
