Here I am! Rock you like a Hurricane (hehe)

Hey M,
Just checking in. I feel upbeat reading your posts about running, good job.
I am such a couch potato lately but of course as Ive ranted for the past few months due to meds I am taking, hopefully will get that all sorted out soon.
I want to do some water aerobics and get my joints into some low impact movement. Anyway, that's cool about your new running gear, sounds like your parents are pretty tuned in to your needs, thats awesome.
Happy holidays

hey there! So glad my posts can help be motivational. Don't worry... you will get back into it... you may just be on burn out! Hope the meds work themselves out for you soon!:waving:

Hey long time no hear, I mean, read. How are things going? You still running even in this sub zero weather? :D

Where did you get that knee brace? I need one badly but I have no idea where to get one. My right knee always bothers me when I do anything with my legs, especially weight lifting, running and biking.

hey there... sorry been tired by the time i get home... no desire to get online and do anything... just vege.

anyways, no i havent been outside for a run since mid last week sometime. been cold out... and actuallyi lost my brand new nike running gloves so i havent been out there.... and the wind sucks.

I have been at the gym though working out and stuff so thats good.... still holding strong in my normal weight range. "normal being anywhere from 123-127

My knee brace i bought at a local drug store... its just a sport brace. Havent worn it for the last few days. Seems like my knee only really seems to get at me when i run outside... maybe its the uneven running planes?

anyways, thanks for stopping by! Its been awhile since i stopped in here. Its almost like i dont feel there is much for me to post... im still running.... i am still the same weight... nothing fun or exciting going on... just same old same old i guess.....

anyways, take care!

Hey girl, how bout at least weekly updates? :)

Haha... sorry derrick! I have an update ill post in a bit!

RunningGirl- I wear Asics Duomax running shoes. I also have a pair of nike pegasus.... but those are getting low on tread so i am about to retire them. I LOOOOVE my asics though. They are wonderful! highly recommend them!

Happy Anniversary and Happy Race DAY

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey guys! Heading out in a bit to do my 1st of 3 races in the 'frozen foot series' in Elizabethtown, PA.

The weather is 33 degrees and a stead rainfall consisting of HUGE ASS DROPS.
But.... i am going regardless and i will hopefully do well... lets see how it goes! Its been a whole month since my last race! My last race was in about 20 degree weather and wind..... and i broke my running record. This will be my first race with Gerdy ( my running GPS) so i am super excited.

ALSO....

Today is my 5 year anniversary with my boyfriend... so we will be heading to The Melting Pot this evening for some fondue.... ooooooh muy fattening

Wish me luck! Love ya guys..... sorry ive been MIA a bit lately... i iwll check in with you later this afternoon

Wow 5 years, Congrats!!! Almost time for a ring ;)

yeah!!! thats what I'm talking about hehe. Soon I am sure. We just wanted to have all our ducks in a row and grow up a bit before that big step. The last 5 years have been incredible... so i guess in a sense it has been worth the wait... although i'd love a shiny ring hehe.

Anyways,
The race today was so freakin tough. Everyone there ran about 1 minute to 1 minute 30 slower than normal. SO MANY HILLLLLS. :ack2: It was such a tough course!!!! But i had a blast. I ended up coming in 1st place for my age group so that was exciting. With this race series, they give out awards for age groups for this race, 2nd race, and the 3rd race. What happens then at the 3rd race is they will tally up what the final combined time was for each person and then give awards for that then too for OVERALL winners.

So that was alot of fun. It was cold and wet and i didnt like that much at all at first... but after a bit i warmed up and actually welcomed the cold rain on my face.

Anyways, that is just an update for you all.... i wanted to be sure to share with you! My time was 23 minutes and someting.... didnt get exact time.

Hope everyone has a fabulous night... i am off to The Melting pot for some yummy anniversary goodies :waving:

We have a Melting Pot in St. Louis also. I think I've only been there one time though. Pretty good from what I remember. Hope you have a great meal and a good time there! Congrats on getting first place AGAIN! And Congrats on 5 years! I proposed to my hunny on our 5th anniversary back in 2000. Too bad your BF doesn't know me. Maybe I would have convinced him 5 years is a good time to propose. :D

I hear you!! My husband and I got married on our 7yr anniversary. It seems like a long time to wait, but I was still only 25 when we got married.

Awesome run today!! You didn't mention Gerdy... how was it?!?

Have fun tonight ;)

Marie

Oh nice!!!! Happy 5th Year anniversary!! Me and my bf just celebrated our 5 year too in December!....We have a Melting Pot too....so delicious!! :drool5:!!!

I am so proud of you and your races!! You are an astounding runner now, and place in ALL of your races!! I wouldn't expect anything less! ;)!! I thought of you the other day on my 10 mile run, as I decided to incorporate some sprints and I told myself "I too can be a fast runner when I want just like Marie!" :D! (maybe not just like you cause you are insane fast, and I'm no where near that..haha...but with some heart! )

...I am excited for the pattern of happiness that you have created in your life because you deserve it!... and I looked at your before and afters yesterday too,..and I must say....That you MOTIVATE me over and over!!! I am often inspired as to how I look like your befores and how I can look like your afters...with WORK!! ;)!! hahah! Thank you!! :grouphug:!

Thanks guys for the well wishes! We had a wonderful time! I ate SO MUCH FOOOOOD. i thought for sure id wake up 2-3 lbs heavier lol... buuuut i went down one pound from the previous morning... what a gift hehe.

Anyways, yesterday i took the day off from running. I had a 9 mile weekend and after racing sunday i wanted to give my body a bit of a break. Speaking of the race... gerdy was AWESOME!!! I really enjoyed racing with her!!! hehe

The last two days ( sunday and monday) i have been a FREAK about "needing" chocolate... which makes sense cause next week is bitch week. but i seriously have wanted chocolate in my mouth 24/7. Sunday was the fondue that we ate. ( omg so good). Yesterday was peanut M&M's and white chocolate cocered chex mix... with little m&ms mixed into it. And i just couldnt stop eating it. It was crazy. anyways, needless to say i was over calories for the day.

Today i am working out of our satellie location and not in my main building at work sooooo i am away from the junk food hehe. I had coffee and an english muffin with an egg, a slice of cheese, and slice of canadian bacon on it for brekafast. For snack i had a 110 cal bag of mini pretzels, an 80 cal light n fit yogurt, and a coke zero. I will be returning to the office soon and ill have a late lunch... and that will most likely be special K cereal... because im feeling lazy and dont wanna make my sandwich lol.

So, i need a little bit of motivation and help from me fellow weightloss peeps. I am seeming to hit a brick wall here lately. I exercise like i always have, and i eat fairly well... id say ranging from 1300-1800 calories a day. i would say i work out for 1hr-1.5 hours 5 days a week.

why can i not drop these last 8 stubborn pounds. Di... i know you did it.... and others of you have too.

I am just wondering if ive been slacking somewhere.... or do i need to cut back more calories? I feel like im hungry though when i try to cut much more. I mean i know my chocolate binges once a month arent greeeeat for the diet... but overall... i feel i should lose something. i have been stuck at 123-127 for 7 months now.

looking for suggestions. I would appreciate no comments such as
why are you trying to lose 8 more lbs.... etc. thats just annoying. I dont question your goals... please respect mine

*DISCLAIMER*- not trying to be a bitch... thats just frustrating.

thanks to everyone for their on going support!!!!!

Hey

I'm at 119 pounds and do 45 mins to an hour of cardio 6 days a week and I find I don't lose if I go over 1500 cals as I maintain at 1800-1900. So maybe try cutting 100 a day and see if it makes any difference?

Anything that I've read has said you need to change things up a bit. More weight lifting, increase your weight, through in some intervals... anything that's going to shock your body and slap it in the face. I wouldn't worry about the binges either. There are some out there who say you SHOULD be doing it once a month, again to shock the system. I definately wouldn't lower you cals working out as much as you do, but there might be something in your diet thats counter productive, (ie: sugar). There is some really increadible info out there on what the different foods do to our systems and exactly why they are so bad. The book, "The Truth About Six Pack Abs" is a good one.

Hope that helps :)
Marie

Agreed. Ever known people to train for a marathon? Many of them actually gain weight, if they were already in decent shape to begin with. Your body is accustomed to distance running and so it's not going to translate to weight loss. You'll have to shake up your routine and include intervals, or try something altogether different like circuit training (jumping rope 3 min, push ups, step-ups etc). That's good for a high calorie burn. Also, to increase your resting metabolic rate you've got to build muscle...which means increasing the amount of weights you use when you train. May need to reevaluate your protein intake as well.
Best of Luck!

I am happy to see some good recommendations so far. Melissa, I agree that resistance training is a big part of the solution. However, I see two possible outcomes and I'm not sure you will be happy with one of them. Outcome 1 is you do lose more weight and finally get below 120. How far below I'm not sure. Outcome 2 is you gain two or three pounds of muscle while losing two or three pounds of fat, weight stays the same. However, your bodyfat percentage obviously changes quite dramatically. The real kicker with that outcome is whether or not you are happy with that. I can totally relate to what you are trying to do so please don't think I am trying to say you shouldn't try to get below 120.

Not too long ago, back in July I think, I got down to a decade low of 193. You might remember. You were one of my 3 or 4 WLF cheerleaders. :D I was working out 6 to 12 hours a week most weeks. I was eating 2000 to 2500 calories per week. I was swimming, biking, running, kickboxing and doing yoga and pilates. Yet I wasn't losing weight. I was pretty much stuck around 195 plus or minus 2 lbs. I was so darn set on reaching 189 and lower that I was starting to view myself as somewhat of a failure or at least not a complete success. I was down to around 14% body fat and wanted to reach 10% so badly. Today I am 215 and over 20% body fat. In hind sight, I wish I had just forgotten about my damn weight for awhile and focused on resistance training in an effort to replace the fat with more muscle. Really what I wanted more than 189 was to just reach 10% body fat.

Once again, I agree with the other girls here. Put an extra effort into resistance/weight training and you will drop your body fat percentage, which could also mean dropping weight too. You have to give it 8 to 12 weeks though. Any fat you lose at this point is going to be hard earned. Just remember, you're a champion and if anyone can do it, you can! :coolgleamA:

Thanks for the recommendations guys!!! Ill be watching the calories closely here for awhile and see if it makes a difference and also shake up my routine. The problem is i am in the beginning stages of marathon training... so as was mentioned.... endurance is importnat to me.... and well..... my body is use to that now soooo.... we will see how it all works out. Maybe ill figure it out one of these days lol

Last evening I hit the gym after work. I ran 4 miles on the treadmill ranging from a speed of 6.0-8.0 It was a nice run. I also lifted for leg day….. and it felt great! It was a super busy night there so…. I had to wait for an open treadmill. That was a little annoying… but oh well. Dare I say I look forward to the new years resolution crowd to die down? Not that I want to see people fail… but they inevitably will …..

Maybe I just hope they all switch to working out when I am not there hehe.

Back to tracking food well. Here was yesterday:
AM
2 coffee w/ cream and splenda
Egg mcMuffin sandwich

Snack 11:30- mini pretzels ( 110 cal), vanilla light and fit yogurt ( 80 cal), Vanilla CokeZero ( 0 cal)

Lunch
Ham and lettuce on a whole wheat sandwich thin roll ( 180 calories total)
Fuse black and green tea – 120 calories

Snack 3:30- PB Naturevalley granola bar- 180 calories, Sm. coffee w. sugar free cream and splendaSnack 6:30- Handful of white chocolate homemade chex mix ( ONLY ONE HANDFUL!!!!!)
Dinner
½ Grilled chicken breast ( minced garlic, garlic powder, olive oil, parsley)
Portabella mushroom stuffed with spinach and sprinkled with mozzarella cheese
Broccoli and cauliflower

Dessert- 80 calorie Toast Coconut Vanilla light and fit yogurt sprinkled with a teaspoon of walnut pieces.

So over all id say food wise I had a pretty good day. I did highlight in red the foods i could have skipped out on..... so i am going to keep an eye on it!
I am really excited because I am starting to be able to see the shape of my legs and arms change… for the better which is super exciting. I am looking forward to hitting the gym this evening….. I feel like im back in a routine

This may sound weird...but you inspire me!!

I am 27 years old and I had my son 16 months ago. I was up to 224 from 145 at 5 feet tall!! I am currently 167 with healthy eating. I am 'kicking it up a notch'...I have decided to go to the gym at minimum 4 days per week to begin with.

I am so tired after working 9 hours and running after my son I didn't do anything.

I started Tuesday and I went Wednesday (with a PT) and I'm going in about 30 mins. I am using my lunch to work out.

I know this is long but I just wanted to share with someone who has/is do(ing) it!

:hurray:
