Here comes another fat kid...

Hi everyone...

I just registered on this forum.
My name is Isabelle and I'm 16 years old.

I just started my senior year of high-school and I thought maybe I should sign up for a forum like this because to be perfectly honest, I really need the support.

See, I'm only gonna get once chance at senior prom, and I'd like to be able to look good wearing a nice dress like all the pretty girls.

Assuming I stick to a fairly strict diet of mostly fruits & veggies and exercise at least an hour every day (Obviously, while still eating small amounts of other foods my body needs) how much weight do you think I could realistically lose in roughly nine months?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Isabelle.

Welcome

Welcome QNC! There is no way for us to tell how much you will lose. It all depends on your current weight/height, diet, and excercise. The best way is to write it all down! Easy ways to do this are by using FitDay or The Daily Plate (I think this is right). I use FitDay myself and find it very helpful. You record everything you eat and your excercise and it will help you see how you need to tweak your diet.

My best advice for you is to make sure you get adequate protein, plenty of fiber, and keep your calories somewhere between 1500-1600 for an average size woman. That is enough to satisfy you but still low enough to lose about 2 pounds a week with excercise. DO NOT be tempted to go lower in calories than 1500 as your body will rebel and hang onto the fat. Also, don't beat yourself up if you go to Taco Bell and have 3 crunchy tacos. Just resolve to do better tomorrow. If you keep to your diet most of the time it is okay to splurge once every couple of weeks. You will not blow your diet!

Good luck and let us know how you are doing!

Hey Honey ;)

You were me 4 years ago. Unfortunately I wasn't how I wanted to look at my prom, but I had more fun than most of my friends.

It's good to have goals, but make them long term, not just for one certain day. I can tell you one thing, just sticking to fruits and veggies WILL NOT WORK!!! You need whole wheat bread, whole oats, chicken, cottage cheese, tuna, beans, etc..a BALANCED diet. Track what you eat so you can see if you have enough or too much calories and a good fat/carbs/protein ratio. Good luck!

I promise you that exercising and eating healthy pays off in the end!

You should make a duck-tape dress. I made my tux out of red and white tape, and I.........well........stood out to say the least. It was worth the work.
