Herbalife then Atkins

Hi I was wondering if it would be a good idea to kick start a diet for 2 months on herba life then switch to Atkins just to get a good kickstart?

I think the BEST idea would be to make changes in your daily life that you can substain long term. Start working in more fruits and veggies, lean protein. Don't fall for those "lose weight quick" scams...they don't work long term.

I agree with Korrie - if you want to loose weight and keep it off, you have to change the way you eat and live and stick to it. Not: change until you get to the weight you like and then go back to your old habits - the weight will just come back (usually more than you lost in the first place).

This forum is a great place to get support to help make those changes and keep them!

My old boss used Herbal magic which I think is similar?

At first she lost 10lbs very quickly, was very excited, so tried to stick with the program - what was happening, is that the pills they were giving her (which were very very expensive, she ended up spending thousands) were loaded with caffeine, and that 10lbs was water weight. When they stopped working after the first 2 weeks or so, they explained it was because her body had become accustomed to them and she was plateauing and she just needed the next kind of herbal pill, and the next one, and the next one. She never lost any real weight. I tried to tell her the program was rubbish, but she never listened.

I'm not sure about Atkins, but if you want to kick start anything,I'd grab a bottle of water and I'd hit the gym!! :D

I actually have done herballife and akins and what I can say is that they both have their advantages and disadvantages. If I were you I would look more into South Beach for it starts very similar as akins and you can learn more about healthy eating.

Why dont you just stick to healthy diet... lower in carbs, (higher in complex of course) lean meats... and maybe supplement one meal a day with a shake if you want... you know? It will help with the calorie restriction part. Ive had success with this method for years, lost 90lbs from 288 to 198... keeping it off... watching what I eat... moderate exercise... throw a shake in once a day... this is a lifestyle change, not a miracle fix... you wont be able to live on herbalife or any other for ever, and atkins gets quite boring. just saying. Balance is key. motivation and support are crucial.
