Help!!

Hello all, ok, so the title may make it seem I'm worse off than I really am but in my head I'm a disaster right now.... I am a 33 year old male, married with two boys (6 and 4) and my weight loss journey started about two years ago when my weight peaked at 260lbs (I'm 6' tall) I've been athletic all my life but always a bit on the bigger side but after having kids and landing in retail sales management again the weight started climbing!! Two Holiday Seasons ago I came across a picture of myself that made me wanna throw up so I ordered P90X and found a workout buddy and went to work, I was able to get down to 197lbs and was thrilled but then Black Friday hit and there was no more time for exercising (I was working at least 70 hours a week) so now I've had a bit of a relapse....not the end of the world but I crept back up to 220 then kicked myself in the butt and have been eating a bit healthier and getting to the gym a few times a week and I'm down to 210 but can't seem to fall below it, I've tried a ton of different thermos with no luck....I've lost the love I once had for cardio (would do 5 mile runs in 25 degree weather at 1am) so I guess what I'm looking for is tips, advice and motivation to really get it back into gear and get to my original goal weight of 185 that I was so close to!! I'd love to hear from anyone, thanks!!!! ~Jazz

Welcome to the forum.

We all know that cardio releases endorphins which make us happy - but that may not be all of the story... It may be that part of the love of cardio that you remember was the love of seeing results as you lost weight... You clearly remember how much harder you were exercising last time round and also how successful you were at losing weight... I sometimes think that these things are so much easier once we are on a roll... once we have that habit up and running so that it almost seems automatic that we burn up 800 calories with exercise just because today is a Tuesday and that is what we do on Tuesdays...

I know exactly how you feel as I was more successful at losing weight last time round... I also used to walk more miles on a bad day than I am currently doing... If I analyse things carefully - my food control was stronger last time round (I am allowing myself more sugar free sweets these days for instance and I am allowing myself more meals out with a guaranteed calorie increase on those days)... Maybe you can pinpoint other areas where you are doing something similar with your food control... Nothing bad about it - but maybe not quite as controlled as you were at your most successful.

If we can tighten things up and hold things tight then we can get back onto a roll with it... we will be successful and the pleasure that we get from that success will make us more successful... It will fuel our ability to create more success... I suspect that if cardio is involved - you will probably perceive that you love it again because it will be so much a part of the success that you love.
