Menopausemama

New member
I am new here and need some help. I am a 52 year old very active woman. I jog, walk, golf, mow my own yard, etc. I do not just sit around. I eat small amounts, the last 10 days, less than 1000 calories a day and still don't lose weight. Help me please! What more can I do, besides not eat at all?

Howdy, menopausemama!

On a certain level, I'm happy to say we're in similar boats! On a more realistic level, I'm sorry to say we have a similar problem. I'm 45 and haven't hit menopause yet but I, too, am struggling to drop a single pound. It's baffling, frustrating, and demoralizing. I'm still fighting the good fight, but I wonder how long I can stay motivated, without any success at all. I'm here to try new ideas, and learn from other 45+ women who've successfully lost 30lbs or more.

I started trying to lose weight 2 months ago. I was 160lbs. I workout for 1-2 hours nearly every day. I eat what I believe is a pretty healthy diet, and don't eat very much at all. Today I weighed 163.8lbs. So...a net gain...

Some people who've seen my food and activity diary suggest my "problem" is I'm eating too little. Others say I'm working out too hard. Neither theory explains why I'm not losing any weight. Those might be theories why someone might plateau, but not prevent any weight loss at all.

You can read about my experience in great detail in my own introduction thread.

I wish you all the best in your quest to lose weight. I'm pleased to see someone more in my situation. (Myself, I never had to diet or exercise, or otherwise do anything to maintain my weight, until my late 30s or early 40s. I gained 30-35lbs in just the past 5 years.) If you do find a good combination of food and lifestyle that is successful for you, I hope you'll let me know.
