Okay, so I'm just not losing weight. Plain and simple, i'm logging my intake, i'm doing my cardio, i'm seeing my trainer and if anything i've put on weight!!

I'm 5'4'', 21, and 154....when I started my journey I was 145...

I don't eat much junk food, and if I do I don't eat all of it. I don't overindulge..and hell, when I eat out I get salads or fish.I eat about 1500 calories a day, 6 small meals, I eat breakfast, I work out for cardio with my heart rate monitor in my fat burning zone for 50 minutes a day, 5x a week, sometimes I go running outdoors for more of a challenge for 35 minutes instead, I have my trainer 3x a week and we strength train for about 30-45 minutes not including the 10 minutes I briskly walk on the treadmill. I drink 4 16 oz bottles of water a day. An example of food I ate today would be an egg sandwich (just a boiled egg, tsp of mayo, on whole wheat bread) lowfat yogurt with granola, 2 plums, a grilled flatbread sandwich (lean cuisine), a banana, a salad with little turkey cubes and salt and pepper and baby carrots(no dressing), those little thingys you add to water by lipton which are like 5 calories a piece, a large apple with a little organic peanut butter on it maybe a tbs, a special K bar, and a protein shake after my work out. Working out today, I trained and worked on my upper body, since on monday we did a lot of lunges and I was sore, and I went to the gym and did 20 minutes on the treadmill jogging at 5.5-6mph (but my shins have been a bit sensitive), then hopped on the elliptical for another 20 minutes, then go back on the treadmill on an incline for 10 minutes, afterwards I relaxed in the sauna for only 25 minutes.

What am I doing wrong? My clothes fit the same, somedays I feel thinner and then within the next hour or so I look the same as before I began. The scale i know is just a number but the number is rising...I don't feel like I've made any progress this month at all..if anything I've lost the progress I've made..my pants feel tighter on the legs and I mean should I get on a supplement or something besides a daily multivitamin that I take?

I feel like a complete failure right now....After 3 months I had started to lose, but I feel like my results have dissipated. I haven't cheated on my diet, or even thought to, I've read numerous threads until my eyes got dry and I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. It's like this weight loss thing is so far away and i'm never going to reach it.

If I were retaining water because of my period that would be one thing but that shouldn't completely diminish any progress I made, yanno?

I'd get an account at , and a scale and start measuring and recording everything you're putting in your mouth - and keeping track of things like sodium and fiber.

If that's how you're feeling -you need to read the thread entitled Scale mentality and really stop focusing on the number on the scale -becuase using the sclae as a measure isn't helping you one bit.. NO ONE BUT YOU will ever know whar you weigh - tyou do not go around with a sign on yur chest saying you weight XX.. So who cares whar the scale says... Go by how you're feeling and what you're seeing...

Working with the trainer - are you feeling fitter? Are you more in shape than you were when you started? if not - you need to have a discussion with them about your goals and expectations...

when I eat out I get salads or fish
Salads aren't always the most low calorie item on the menu - and fish can also be higher in calories than you'd expect...

Well it's not like I get the salad with gobs of dressing, I make sure it's within my calories and isn't ridiculously fatty.

I have an account with fitday which keeps me on track. While I do feel like I am stronger, I am not seeing the results I figured I would see.

My trainer suggested seeing a doctor about my thyroid.

a thyroid test is a pretty simple blood test that can be done... for an underactive thyroid, you'd have other symptoms though...

Are you certain that your expectations are in correlation to how long you've been wokring? What does your trainer say about your progress?

Well actually yes, I suffer several of the symptoms of an under active thyroid. I always thought I was just weird, but when I talked to my trainer she was like "GIRL I TOLD YOU TO GET IT CHECKED!" I mean we're seeing little progress, but over a course of 3+ months, and me doing everything right then it's probably something medical. I was hoping to get some light shone on this one, because perhaps a thyroid test is a waste of time if there is nothing wrong. I have a history of thyroid disease in my fam, but I dunno if that's hereditary.

Anyway do you think I should maybe increase my cardio or something? Like go for 6 days a week? My trainer said maybe, but she doesn't think it's the cardio.

If you do have an underactive thyroid -you're better off knowing now and getting treatment for it (which is generally treated with medication) - if left untreated an underactive thyroid can lead to all sorts of much more serious issues...

Waste of money, if it's nothing, perhaps, but wiht family history, you're better off knowing one way or another.. and if your thyroid is fine -then go to plan b.. .but if you're fighting an underactive thyroid... why beat your head against the wall - treat it and make your weight loss journey a lotmore pleasant...
