Alright...last year I was doing wonderfully...going to the gym eating right and slowly losing weight, then I lost my gym membership and all but gave up.

So now here I sit and don't know what to do. I have no $$$ to get a membership to a gym and am just plain sick of being chunky. So what should I do? Any advice???

You can lose weight without exercising, though it is much harder. I would suggest finding another way to exercise as soon as possible. I should think that purchasing a couple key home-gym peices would be much less expensive in the long run than paying upwards of $50 a month for a gym membership. I've got a basic stationary bike that cost less than $100CDN before shipping.

So, here's a suggestion for a way to get that money: Figure out how much you would normally spend on junk food or any other unhealthy habits you have. Then, each day that you can refrain from partaking, put that money aside for a new peice of equipment. I know I had to stop eating out to start losing weight, and at about $15 a day (usually two meals), I was saving $50 a week. Smoking can cost upwards of $30 a day depending on how much you smoke, so even cutting back a little is saving you money.

Just an idea, maybe it'll inspire a better one for you :)

Beagle has some good advice, but I believe that walking is the best form of excersize, and its free! Get outside, so for a nice long walk and soak up the sun!!

Thanks so much for all of your advice! I am trying to eat more sensible and today I started to work out on a gazelle (some exercise is better than none). I was thinking about getting a video to work out with...any cheap ideas? Nothing too intense yet...I don't want to look like a maniac jumping around my room...lol.

Thanks in advance for all your help!

Also has anyone joined the national body challenge (the ad at the top) and gone to Bally's for free?

When i first started there was no gym to go to ( I live on an island - of sorts) because everything was so far away. I just walked at a normal pace at first. I progressed to race walking. If I try hard enough I think I may be able to jog soon without giving myself black eyes! LOL I haven't found anything that beats walking. The only time I do something different ( dvd's) is when it rains or snows like the dickens - safety issues here.

you dont need a gym membership! i never had one and maybe never will. i lost all my weight by walking and restricting calories ALONE. maybe not the perfect way to some because i didnt include weights and sometimes i eat too little but i still got the job done! i think the key here is you need to find your motivation, something to focus on that is going to keep you going for more than 3 months. that is the average time somebody is all "gung ho" over their weight loss and then they seem to fall off the wagon and give up for one reason or another.
