Help with the right choice for me..

Im looking into either akido or ju jitsu, the only problem is that there aren't any schools by me. So which one would be easier to study from a book or video, does anybody have any recommendations on books, videos ect. If these two are too hard to learn on my own is their something else that i should go with?
 
The words "studying martial arts" and "from a book or video" shouldn't collide in the same sentence.

you can learn the techniques, but you won't learn to do them correctly, just leaving you to get hurt in a real confrontation.
