Help with asthma PLEASE

hi my name is brad and i am after some advise here is my story :) ive wanted to join the navy for years and they have now dropped the crap about asthma as mine is perfectly managable i have started running everyday to get my fitness up more so i eventually hopefully loose the need for a puffer at all now my question is i run to the point of my chest nearly exploding every time and i want to know if i should deal with it and breath it out or should i take my puffer strait away my thought was that if i deal with it for as long as possible they would have to get stronger but i guess the oposit would be true as well so can you guys help me out please and thank you also

If you have to use a rescue inhaler (or even have to ponder whether you should use one) every time you run your asthma isn't under control.

I have asthma although I've had no problems for several years. For a while I took Advair and it really wiped out all symptoms for me, but I hate taking medications like that especially when they contain cortico-steroids. I got in much better shape and stopped the meds and still have had no symptoms.

I think physical conditioning really can help ultimately, but you might need better preventive meds now.

One of those things you may want to speak to your doctor about. I also have had to use an inhaler, but my asthma was brought on by allergies, and isn't to the degree that you mention. Just to be on the safe side, speaking to your doc might offer you a few more options....:)

cheers,
Diane
