Hi iam 17 and 5.10 and weight andout 13.5 stones (bad i know). I have recently lost about 1 1/4 stones with my own diet and exersise plan, everyone i know noticed the difference but i didnt.
I ate healthy and had no soft drinks just water and went to the gym or swimming about 4 times a week for about an hour.
I felt healthy but i didnt think i had lost any.
I have stoped going to the gym and eating like i was due to going back to college and not having enough time to go to the gym and i know its stupid but i eat loads of junk food because all my friends do (but there all thin :s) and have most of the weight back on.Being "big" is actualy recking my life i havent had a girlfriend in about 3 years and i have no confidence it sucks!
I was wondering if any one could give me any tips on easy diets to follow with good results and exercises i can do at home.Iam not looking for rapid results but i do want to be about 10 stone in july (7months) if thats not to ambitious.

ANY help will be fantastic

A

well man, if I were you, I would start reading the stickies posted around the forum. There are quiet a few in the "on topic" section. I know reading can be a drag sometimes, but there really is some good, sound info there!

As far as exercising at home, I have a walking DVD that I love to do for cardio..maybe you could invest in a set of weights????

Thanks for the reply. What Is you DVD called and I will have a look around for it.and I was told not to do weights untill I had lost weight because it just turns fat into mucele.

Actually, we know that muscle burns calories better than fat does. Usually the reason you don't build muscle before fat is cosmetic..you don't see it. It's a great deal better if the weight is muscle instead of fat so I wouldn't follow that advice. Yes, your 'weight' won't change but that fat will start coming off and all that muscle you have built will be more visible. It's also just plain healthier.

The dvd I use is by Leslie Samsone...she has several out, i think they're all basically the same though...anyways, i'd recommend that :)

Thanks korrie ! And thanks jericho i would have just been going on work outs not weights involved just yet!Do any of you know of any kind of diet that works am sick of coming accross things like 18in4 and things like that. :)

The biggest problem is the word diet. Throw that word away. Lock it up, eat the key :coolgleamA:

What you need to do is start with a food diary. By writing down honestly all the food and drink you take in, you can see spots to make changes. Drinking whole milk? Move to skim. Eating too much fast food, widdle that stuff down.

The small changes is what will make the biggest difference.

Oh thanks for that just signed up looks good:) And i dont think i will be eating any kind of key any time soon lol.I have skimed milk because my mum only has that in the house :) and i dont actualy eat fast food that offten maybe one every 1-2 months i tend to just snack on things like crisps and biscuits thats my let down.I was thinking of doing this exersise toughts? iam doing it in the house because am too embarrassed to go jogging or swimming now

I'm sure the excersies are fine (though I'm not anywhere near as knowledgeable as I am with diet).

As far as your last comment though, I really can relate to the too embarassed. Unfortunately, the idea of what others think of you can be a big punch in the gut when it comes to modivation. You just have to put in your mind that YOU are trying to better yourself and what they think really doesn't matter.

I started today i dont think i have done too bad to be honest!
branflakes skimed milk
green apple
jacket potato w/beans and a lil cheese
home made tomato soup (no cream) w/brown granary roll
and a few salted peanuts

BAD OR GOOD ???

Not started exersise yet, that begins on wednesday when i venture to the sports shop for a skipping rope lol.

from Trudy the trainer...

My life in a nutshell involved watching my mom balloon to a US size 28, so I was surrounded by the emotional breakdowns and yo yo dieting. She died young of an obesity related heart failure so I have made it my lifes mission to help as many people as I can lose weight permanently.
THe first obstacle is to find out what your first obstacle is ! Seriously what is it that is holding you back.... Depravation, calorie counting and starvation dont work. They may temporarily but not in the long term. GO back to basics. Stop eating any processed foods. Here are 6 top tips that I guarantee that if implemented not only will you lose weight but keep it off:
1) Set yourself up for success- First of all, get into the right FRAME OF MIND. Have a think about your personal driving force – or why it is that you want to do this? What is going to be your biggest motivator for losing that excess body fat? write it down and put it on the Fridge.
2) Find a support group at work and home. Also, have friends that will encourage you, not sabotage you. Surround yourself with people that care about you achieving what you want.
3) Eliminate White Carbohydrates - They are simply empty calories. For this reason, exclude white rice, pasta, mash potato, or white bread.Try spelt or sprouted grain bread and have a Maximum of 2 pieces of bread per day
4)Eat real food, not processed food! The golden rule is anything that was around 100 years ago could classify as real food – these are foods with the least amount of packaging and additives. A good trick is to avoid the middle aisles of the supermarket. Stick to the boundaries – i.e. fruit, vegetables, meats, milks, etc. – the rest is just chemical filled, over processed, and over marketed
5) Decrease your sugar intake -The golden rule is to select brands with the least sugar added, and with the most fiber and protein. Substitute with Agave nectar or Stevia (100%) not artificial sweeteners these cause spikes in insulin and can often make you hungry!
6) have a Cheat meal every week. If you eat as listed above 85% of the time you will still lose the weight and you wont feel like you are on a diet. It's a lifestyle. Not a quick fix, so grab that Chocolate bar and enjoy it (just once or twice a week though...I recommend once a week until you have reached your goal and then twice to maintain)
Now you are young so go out there and enjoy life, move more, take the dog for a walk, take the stairs more, do 5 squats every time you read an email...anything that get's you moving.

Too many Carbohydrates....add protein in there. For creating fullness and sanity! Try to have protein at every main meal. Try omlettes 3-4 times a week for breakfast. Add chicken to your soup. Lean protein like chicken, Turkey, Buffalo all good. NO need to starve just eat well.
