Help me get a pretty body

Okay, I'm serious this time but I need help. I'm pretty into fitness, I like to swim and run so cardio's not a problem. Weights aren't my fav but I'll suffer through them. But I need help with my diet because I NEED pretty abs :) So, I have a tendency to not really eat too often just because I don't realize I need to, so can someone tell me what to eat and how often? This could be hard.... I'm a vegetarian, I don't eat eggs but do eat dairy. I love fruits, grains, and most vegetables. Not tomatoes or peppers... or onion. And I'm addicted to natural PB. So please, give me all the advice I can get! I need to lose like 20 pounds of fat and then tone, tone, tone!!

Here is my detailed response on the subject, if you think its to long to read through well that says something. http://www.fitness.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11816

As far as getting protein being a veggie, Substitue meat and eggs with soy/tofu, protein shakes, and make sure to take some amino acid suppliments being that you don't eat meat and thats vital for you.

You should eat at least every 2-3 hours. If you eat small enough meals you'll be able to eat that often. You can also eat cottage cheese for protein. You don't eat fish, do you?

Good luck! :)

I don't eat fish, cottage cheese or tofu... I may be doomed on the protein side of things. Would just protein powder work? I try and find protein, like I'll have kashi go lean cereal (13g) but I don't know if that's good enough. Other than that it all sounds manageable! That was long, but worth reading. Thanks for your help.

I also eat a cereal called "Optimum Slim" that is high in protein and fiber. It's pretty good tasting. Protein powder works too but I would think that it would get old fast.

Sounds like you are basically vegan. Not a problem. I am a vegetarian and I am able to get more than enough protein. kashi GoLean is my fav. Green foods have protein as well... just not a lot.

Protein powders will work, but as Teresand77 said... that will get old. Milk has protein, natural PB has protein and so do lots of pre-made vegetrian dishes. Amy's natural burritos (so friggin' good) contain lots of protein. Also Boca even has a vegan burger with is mighty tastey.

Lastly, look into Hemp Bread. My saving grace. My other half is currently spending a weekend at the PETA event. So I am hoping to get some new recipes soon :)

Lynn, what exactly is hemp bread? Is that a brand or something?... can you get it at a normal grocery store?

I get my hemp bread at my local health food store. However some regular grocery stores carry it. I also have a Wegman's near me and they carry it. Wegman's is a large grocery store with a small natural foods area inside it.
