Help from an expert.

FIrst of all by expert i dont mean really an expert. I just mean someone with enough experience to help me.

So i am 17 years old, i weigh 185 and i am 5,10. Today is july 19 (20th). I want to lose 20 pounds by August 20th, if not that then 15. I know if i am 170 by August 20th i will have enough motivation to reach my goal: 155 pounds.

I actually used to be 195, but somehow i got it down. I have been going to the gym at least 4 times a week scince june 16.

So my question is: Can someone tell me exactly what to do in order for me to lose 15-20 pounds in 1 month. What exercises i should be doing at the gym? Should i lift or aerobics or both? If any of those, which ones should i focus on?

With food i am not bad, i rarley spoil myself. I usually eat healthy food, meaning grilled chicken/fish/meat and salad for dinner. Bowl of Fiber One for breakfeast with milk. And just a healthy snack/meal for lunch. So food isnt a problem.

I just want to know what i should do to lose 15-20 pounds by August 20th (I go back to school on the 25th so i want to look a bit different :p).

Most of that information is in the sticky threads under 'Newcomers', but otherwise keep an eye out for Steve and a couple of the other guys.

I looked there and some of the info there wasnt that helpfull. If you can link me the thread that has all the info for exactly what i need that would be amazing.

Okay. first of all, you need a calorie deficeit to loose weight. that means eating less calories than you use. This is irrelevant of how much exercise you do.
Clearly you need to eat less if you want too loose weight.
Exercise burns a few extra calories which is good, as well as building muscle which also not only makes you look good but muscle makes you burn more calories in a day.

So whatever exercise you want to do, do it. It wont make you loose a lot of weight however unless you do it 24/7. 15-20lb is only achievable by changing your diet and eating less calories.

Try reading this link here from Newcomers that i suggested earlier http://weight-loss.fitness.com/newcomers/8354-where-start-what-do.html

Nobody is going to sit here and tell you 'exactly what to do.' We don't spoon feed people around here. We educate. In doing so, we help people build a foundation that they can work work for the rest of their lives.

Why are you so focused on weight as opposed to appearance?

Why do you need the scale to say a certain number before a certain date?

Because my weight hinders my appearance. I want to be able to wear good cloths and look great. Also i want to be able to do well in sports when im playing with my friends and not always be picked towards the end because i cant run fast or because i dont have alot of endurance.

For the certain date, i kinda wanted to look a bit thinner for school, which is august 25th. But I just want to lose weight relativly quickly, maybe total of 2-3 months from when i start, to reach my goal which is 150 pounds.

Also i dont want a daily scedual thing. Sort of like: Eat healthy foods, no junk foods. Exercise 4-5 times a week at the gym doing mostly cardio. Do this exercise for 30 mins of your time, this exercise for this amount of time, etc.

Basically i need to know what i should focus on during my exericse in order to lose weight.

The whole point of a schedule is to be organised and to build a routine so that you can get used to it.

When I was going gym I wasnt on a strict diet, I was just more cautious about what I was eating. For example I dont eat burgers or chips anymore, I dont snack on crisps or chocolates instead I snack on fruits.

Thes little adjustment actually worked and I did lose weight. I stopped going gym for about 3 weeks however I still watch what I eat. Honestly I can feel the difference...

Why mostly cardio?

and eating healthy means bubkiss if you don't have your calories under control...

Again you're going to be told read the stickied threads in exerise, nutrition and on topic.. then come back and reevaluate what your plan is...

At your age - all cardio isn't going to do much to improve your physique...

I completely agree! At 5'11" I'm striving to be 185, but that's the weight that I feel looks good on me. If you have a decent amount of muscle, 185lbs is not that bad. Depending on your make up and your body style, you could look great at 175-180.

I also agree with Mal, you should be focused on weight training and eating right - that way you can build muscle and cut down on the flab, esp if you're somewhat new to working out. You're at a prime age for getting healthy!

Also, if you want to increase your speed and athleticism, steady state cardio and swimming probably aren't the way to go. Weights and high intensity cardio workouts will help you improve your speed, agility etc., and eventually you can start working in sport-specific stuff - if that's really what you want. You'll notice that most athletes are good looking - it's not because they were made that way, but they lifted and practiced their sport until they were great at it; the great shape is just a byproduct. :)
