Hi everyone!! I had joined the site awhile back while I was in school and I kept putting losing weight off until I was done and had graduated from college...and so here I am, graduated...2 months away from my wedding day and I need to fit into my wedding dress!! So Last week (5/21/08), I started my low calorie diet along with exercising 6-7 times a week. Here are my stats:

Height: 5'6"
BW: 227
CW: 218
Goal:150

Now, I know it is completely unrealistic to get down to 150 by my wedding and it is especially unhealthy. So I turn to you, how much do you think I can lose in 2 months with a low calorie diet and increase exercise. I may have to take some drastic measures such as sticking to a 800-1000 calories/day and working out 2 hours/day... but desperate times call for desperate measures.

Overall, my goal is to become healthy and live happily as me being overweight for my entire life has hindered me in every way. I want to be able to start my new life with my husband in a healthy and happy way! So please, any encouraging words or advice, all welcome!

-This is site is truly amazing, each and everyone of you has demonstrated such commitment and it makes people like me want to reach for the stars, I just need a lil push.

Thanks again!

Figure about 1% of weight per week, so you might get down below 200 in 2 months. Although if you really have seen 9 pounds of scale loss in the last week, you're unlikely to see a huge amount of scale movement in the next couple weeks, and should expect to lose about 10-12 more pounds in the next 2 months.

I may have to take some drastic measures such as sticking to a 800-1000 calories/day and working out 2 hours/day... but desperate times call for desperate measures.

Neither of those are sustainable for 2-month periods. Better to not even try it, because when you fall off (and no matter how much willpower you have, your body will force you into falling off that plan), you're likely to gain everything right back.

I would have to respectfully disagree with that statement, Allyphoe. I have maintained a diet/healthy lifestyle consuming around 1000 calories daily for around seven months now and I know others who have done so for longer. It's not so much that I try to keep it this low, just so happens that what I eat is very low in calories.

Good luck in dropping some weight for your wedding! :) Your wedding coming up should be just the push you need.

I agree joey scotland- the first time i dieted when i was a senior in highschool i did the same thing for a about a year....you can keep it off if you want to! i wish you lots of luck with your weight loss & the wedding!!

thank you

aw thank you for your kind words! I appreciate the encouragement. I did lose a good amount of weight last summer by sticking to a 1000 calories/day with 1 hour of cardio n 20 minutes weight but as soon as school started up, I was too stressed out. Nursing school can really get to you like that! But nonetheless, I think if i wouldve stayed with my routine, I would've continued to lose weight, it was just a matter of my own lack of discipline.... So here I am now struggling, but hopefully I can shed a good amount of weight before the wedding...Im hoping for 25-30... I pretty much have 2 months free to work out as much as I possibly can, and my family monitors me at home...keeping me in check, so its nice! But I hope I will be able to do this... :)

Not to interject here and please feel free to disagree with me, but how did it 'work' if all the weight was gained back?
If this type of diet and lifestyle fits into your life and is sustainable- as it appears to be for JoeyScotland- then it is a good idea and should work. If it is designed to be temporary and a 'crash' so to speak then more likely than not the wheels will come off and the weight will come back on.

A lifestyle change should not require more than a modicum of disipline and will power, not an intense daily struggle to eat x calories.

My $.02. Do with it what you will..

I understand your point. Just to clarify, I'm not eating those amount of calories just until I lose the weight, I will continue to eat the foods that I do (which so happen to be low in calories) even after I have reached my goal weight. It seems a struggle for me to eat MORE calories rather than a struggle to eat LESS calories. It's not difficult for me because thats the food I actually enjoy. And yes once in a while I do treat myself.....beer, cheesecake, whatever I want really.....mmmmm.....cheesecake :)

I have to ask this - why did you wait until 2 months before the wedding? Is it that you want to tone up beforehand or have you out on weight that you need to lose again? You are putting yourself under a lot of stress during an already very stressful time!

How small is your dress? That will obviously impact how much weight you need to lose to fit into it. Realistically you could lose abt 2lbs per week (so abt 16lbs) before the big day. That would possibly be one dress size ( but everyone loses weight from diff places so it might not equate to a whole dress size)

Just remember that your wedding day will be amazing no matter what size dress you are in. I know you want to look your best but with the exercise and eating plan that you have described you may well find that come the wedding day you might be slimmer but you will be exhausted! I hope you have a fantastic day and that you fit into your dress (im sure you will you sound pretty dedicated). I would just advise caution with the extreme diet and exercise.

Have a wonderful wedding!

I hear what you are saying and I have heard it before.I n all honesty though, how did you gain wieght if you struggle to eat high cal food and in large quantites?
I know how I gained- crappy food in huge quantities..:D
I have always wondered this when I hear this said.

I love cheesecake more than any other type of cake....
Best frakin use of cheese ever- one of the reasons I was 265 or so....

Eating less than 1000 calories is considered starvation.
Eating less than 650 is anorexia.
With 2 hours of workout a day, you'll burn LOTS of calories, probably lowering yourself to anorexia if you do this.

Keep dieting healthy and slow-but-steady, no matter how "desperate" you are to lose weight.

Back then I didn't work out, in fact......never got any exercise.

Made poor food choices because I was lazy and uneducated about food and nutrition.

NOW.....I make good food choices and it's not hard for me.....I have no desire to go back to my old ways, I've changed the way and eat and enjoy healthy foods. I now understand that eating healthy, well balanced meals/snacks is good for my body.....I even noticed that my moods have improved, I feel better on the inside and out.
