Hell's Bells!

As far as the exercising goes, is there any activity you enjoy that would be more fun then a normal workout? Maybe biking, swimming, running, dancing, whatever? It really doesn't matter all that much so long as you are moving.

Hi Mizzie!

honestly, I don't like any activity at all! I was the kid that liked to stay indoors and play "school" all day long, or read a book! not much has changed in my adult years ;)

I'm going to attempt the whole Couch to 5 k program. I know some rather inactive people that gave it a whirl, and are now running miles per day. I like the fact that it's only 3 times per week, 30 minutes per day. I could do that! I think? :/

That's a really cute dress! I'm not a dress person, but I wish I could wear something like that. Someday. ^_^ Good luck with the sewing! I love to sew, it's so much fun. But I'm not very good at making things out of my head, I need a pattern.

Gracias! I think I own 2 pairs of pants total...the rest skirts and dresses. no matter my size, I'm always stuffing myself into frocks!

And I know NOTHING about sewing. in fact, I saddled up to my machine last night and made sure to place it right next to my computer so I could use youtube videos to teach me to wind a bobbin...drop a bobbin...and finally the UNHOLY act of threading the machine. this stuff is COMPLICATED! I did not succeed, but I'm throwing myself into this full force this weekend. I may have to break down and buy a new machine as the one I'm using is like, 40 years old and has no manual.

It's my birthday weekend! I turn 31 next Tuesday. Yikes, where has the time gone??? I can't believe it was less than 10 years ago I was in college, doing all the things I was not supposed to do ;)

So I've been reading about stuff people do to lose weight...a lot of it is crazy talk. Starving themselves...barfing...eating only one particular kind of food. All that would do is give me a headache...and to be honest, I would rather remain fat than have a perpetual migraine from lack of food.

But I did read about "before, during, and after"...where people drink a glass of ice water before, during, and after each meal, and lose a crap ton of pounds. I'm a big advocate of water drinking, so it would be nice if this actually facilitated the act of losing weight.

I've also been heavily researching the whole C25K jogging plan. It seems simple enough. I think I can do that! Bottom line is I hate exercise, and the less I have to think about it, the better. I've downloaded an app for my iphone, and here's to hoping I learn to love bouncing and sweating.

read a book

I hear you on that! I'd rather curl up on the couch with a good book (and a bag of chips and a Coke, naturally) than exercise any day. Training myself to not feel I have to eat while I read has been the hardest part of this.

That running program sounds really interesting! I wish I could find something like that around here. I'd like to learn to run, I can't run at all. Keep us posted on how it goes if you decide to do it.

the UNHOLY act of threading the machine.

:smilielol5: That made me laugh out loud for real! I had the same sewing machine for years and I still needed the manual to thread it. I swear it changes every time. Now my mother in law got me a new-to-me sewing machine (a lot newer than my old one!) and I have to learn it all over again.

I used to be the same way about exercise. In highschool I only took gym in grade 9 because it was mandatory and all my friends said it was an easy credit and I should continue taking it but I never did because I hated getting sweaty and being out of breathe in front of my class mates. When I realized I had to do it to lose weight I felt better doing things in the comfort of my home and eventually as I started losing weight I started enjoying it more. I really liked the after work out high I would get and it became really addicting. Now I love it and don't know what I would do if I couldn't exercise. I think it will take some time but eventually after you try out some different exercises and machines or sports you will find something you enjoy.
Have a great weekend and good luck with the sewing!

Hi, I'm the same way about exercise. Hate it, hate it, hate it, especially getting sweaty. Have never found any kind I like. I walk because I can think about something else while I walk, or listen to music or books, so I am distracted from the exercising and there is no sweating involved.

Good luck with your weight loss journey!

I hated P.E. so much, I used to forge letters IN SECOND grade to get out of it! I would tell my mom I wanted to compare her signature with mine...and I would do mine very lightly in pencil toward the bottom of the paper, and ask her to make hers below mine. I would then erase my signature, write up an excuse, and her signature would be in place. What a rotten child! I also failed P.E. in high school...the only class i had to make up in summer school...because I preferred to ditch or better yet, sit in the grass and watch everyone else get sweaty!

I didn't know this happens. Apparently I'm missing out! here's to trying to achieve this!

you and I are kindred spirits. I've never been involved in sports or anything enhanced the body...always the mind. so like anything else, learning the beauty of exercise later in life will be a challenge. I think we need to work on our perspective, and try to see what active people see when exercising. it's the mental work that is the hardest...but I'm sure with determination, we can make it happen!
