Hi

I registered on this site a while ago but forgot until recently, and I think that it would be helpful for me to become a part of this community. I am 34, 5'6 and (I'm embarrassed to admit this) I weigh 290 pounds. I used to weigh 145, so I've basically doubled my size. I had a binge eating disorder and was drinking heavily for a while, hence my present state. Luckily for me, both of those things have been resolved...but now I am left cleaning up the wreckage! On top of all of this (as if I really needed it!), I have some physical problems that I have to deal with. I strained my lower back when I was gaining weight, and drinking, and I had to deal with that for a year (basically my muscles had atrophied from laying around drinking, gaining weight and not doing anything), and then once i finally fixed that, i injured my piriformis muscle (left butt down the side of my leg) and i'm still working on healing that! so yeah, it's been one thing after the other here! anyway, i am finally focusing on watching my diet and exercising so i can get back down to 145, which seems at this point like an impossible goal!

so i guess i'll be nosing around the site and posting here and there. thanks in advance to everyone!

AI know it might look impossible now, but just remember that this isn't a race, and you should take your time working out the best routine that works for you, so you can eventually reach your goal (and you can reach your goal).

I started my weight loss journey at around the 290 lbs mark ( 130-132kg), and I am now down to 251 lbs (114kg). I still have a way to go, but as long as you don't quit, you will make it.

thanks for your reply, and thank you for the support. it's difficult to feel really excited and motivated when i am in constant pain! can't wait for this injury to heal!

Hey

Nice to meet you.

I had a binge eating disorder which fortunately has in the main gone away although I do have those times when I turn to food.

You can do whatever you want but set yourself a timeframe that you want to lose the weight by.

You can probably make a good dent in the weight you want to lose by making a slight reduction in the calories your currently eating.

Keep me posted.
