I'm new to the forum but I needed some support so I can finally start a weight loss program. I come from a Jamaican family that LOVES food & laughs whenever someone talks of dieting or weight loss... hoping to find some people to be accountable to so I can be successful.

Any ideas on how I should get started? --I've been thinking about doing Slim in 6 or Hip Hop Abs
 
First of all welcome :) second... I'd suggest your first step should be reading the stickies in "On Topic", "Nutrition" and "Weight Loss through exercise" simply because it will give you a much much better foundation on which to base your desicion on how you want to go about loosing weight.

I would also advice against following some fancy "diet" and instead yeah.. reading the stickies :) then you'll have all the knowledge you need. Then! you can pester with questions which maaaaany people will be happy to answer, and I'm sure it'll be easy peasy to find someone to hold you accountable, people here are very supportive.

You can always go with the rule I heard recently - "You can have as much junk food as you want. As long as you make it yourself. From scratch."

So start peeling those potatoes for chips! ;)

But serious, reading the stickies is a great place to start.
