Hello everyone. I'm a 49 year old male, weigh 230lbs and I'm 5 10" tall. I'm going to give the Timothy Ferriss diet a try. I've always worked out, but have never dieted or watched my calories, so this is a new experience.

Looking forward to perusing the forum, finding good information and inspiration.

Hello and welcome bluebird. I am also new, what is the Timothy Ferriss diet all about? Good luck to you!

Thanks Cmama.

He wrote a book called "The 4-Hour Body". It seemed a bit faddish, but I like some his ideas on dieting, so I thought I would give it a try. To summarize:

1. Avoid White carbs.
2. Eat the same meals over and over again.
3. Don't drink calories.
4. Don't eat fruit.
5. Cheat day one day out of the week. Eat whatever you want.

I don't know if it's right for me, but I do like the simplicity. I am keeping a diary of my experience with it.

Wow, sounds kind of hard but good luck, I wish you much success. I am on a faddish diet right now too, I am using it to jump start my weight loss. It's called the Rotation Diet (an old fad diet from the late 80's - early 90's). Seems to be working for me so far. Wish me luck.

@Plbfitness.

Thank you for posting that link. It is very helpful. I will be posting my experience with trying this particular diet.

Yeah I watched a programme once and it was called 'will your crash diet kill you' the title was really in no way related to the diet so the rotation diet won't kill you but it was a programme where they had 4 diff people one did a liquid diet, one did an atkins one did the rotation diet and someone else did another and at the end of a week the guy on the rotation diet lost over a stone - so hope it works for you too

Hi, If you are not to eat fruit - what do you snack on?

Hi, If you are not to eat fruit - what do you snack on?

That's the tough part. Maybe a tablespoon of peanut butter -- Saturday is a "cheat" day where I can eat what I want.

It's not easy. I'm committed to it for a couple weeks to "jumpstart" my dieting and then I will see where I am at then.

Hi
I personaly wouldn't have any time for any diet plan writer that suggested I don't eat fruit, It sounds bonkers to me but hey, what do I know.
The very best of luck too you

Welcome to the forum, Bluebird. I am also 49 and 5'11" male. I started at 255 pounds ( this time-lol) and am currently 188 pounds. I don't know a lot about the 4 hour diet but I have read the posts about the diet in this forum. Seems interesting, but for me- it was about exercise and eating sensibly. I have tried a lot of diets in my time and one thing I notice about fad diets is they don't teach you how to eat normally. Sure you can lose a lot of weight on some of them but I found that once I went off them the weight came back again. So this time - I went back to the basics- eating normally but watching portions and exercising- lo and behold the weight came off. Good luck on the diet though- keep us informed on how it is going.

I wanted to experiment with cutting out sugar (including fructose) for a couple of weeks (except for the "cheat" day on saturday). I was also using the fruit as an excuse to not eat vegetables. Now I am primarily eating green vegatables rather than fruit.

I'm sure I will reintroduce fruit back into the diet.

Best of luck to you also. Looking forward to reading about your journey.

Thanks for the advice cowboy. We are the same age and it sounds like we have similar body types. I am looking forward to reading your posts.

No problem! I haven't read through that thread yet, but I knew I had come across it somewhere!
