Im cody and Over the last two years i have gained 20 pounds. They say im schizophrenic and the medicine i take generally makes you gain weight. There is other medications but they make me really nervous so I have decided for the time being to stick to my current, obesity invoking pill. The reason i want to lose weight is because i like to rock climb and the extra weight is keeping me from keeping up with my brothers, also i could get diabetes if i let my weight get out of control. I also feel a bit of shame being overweight, although im not sure that i should, i probably shouldnt because i am beautiful in every way. Anyway i must have a really slow metabolism because I ate only 1200 callories a day for a week and lost no weight. So right now im doing 200 calories a day for a week to see if i lose any. Ive already tried excersizing and eating 1200 calories a day and that seemed to work, but i like experimenting. My biggest threat to my goal of losing 20 pounds would be social eating. Thats one of the main things my friends and I do for fun, is go to different restauraunts. Anyway any posotive energy directed toward my quest would be appreciated, I hope you all live healthy and full lives.
God bless,
Cody

Hello Cody,

I am concerned for you, of course you'll lose weight at 200 calories, it's because YOU'LL BE STARVING. You're active as well, so you won't have any energy to do what you normally like to do, such as rock climbing, you might be able to pull it off for a short while, having energy. On-going depriving your body of foods will drain you and MAKE YOU GAIN MORE WEIGHT the next time you eat anything. Also in the long run, you could become a diabetic with this type of on-going eating habit (if it were to turn into one) You can also bring on another full range of Health Problems.

Waiting a week to see if you will lose any weight at 1200 calories, or any healthy amount of calories isn't going to automatically do it, try to be patient, and keep it up for a few months with healthy foods, and healthy activity, which it sounds like you have.

Great if you want to experiment, try a couple hundred more or less. Not all of your intake. Something to also think about, eating more (healthier food) can also help a person to lose weight. Talk to your Doctor about it. Especially if you think you should be dropping calories.

I am sorry to hear you are dealing with Schizophrenia. That can be tough being on medication that makes one gain weight.

I hope you are well. Take Care

Good Morning!

Hi I'm Sam. I've just joined and I've found a lot of great support and assistance.

I have a good friend that was diagnosed with schizo-affective disorder (it's a combination of bipolar disorder and schizophrenia). He probably takes the same meds you do. He struggled with weight issues due to the meds. He started eating healthier along with weight training and cycling. He found that this combination worked for him and has lost a lot of weight. He also found since living a healthier life it has really helped with his illness.

He looks great. I'm jealous. :p
