Hi there

I joined this group in order to gain knowledge and maybe even receive or take some free advice from others who may be or are still striving to being in the best shape of their lives.

A little bit about myself. In high school, I used free weights to bulk up hoping to make the high school football team.

Well, some medical problems ended that dream, and 20 years later, I am about 75-80lbs over where I should be at 6' tall. Unacceptable, but I can't dwell on it. I have joined a health club, and the membership doesn't start until April 2nd (corporate deal).

So, I guess I am hoping there are some kind hearted individuals who can give me some advice on where to start, as I have been a couch potato for quite a long time. My job keeps me walking alot so I haven't completely been doing nothing for a long period of time.

Doctor says I can start a program, so the visit the doctor advice is not needed, thanks.

I am just unsure of where to begin. Do I need to make goals? What kind of goals make sense? I mean, back then, it was to bulk up for the football team. Now I would just like to get in shape and hopefully extend my life expectancy.
