Hi, everyone. I'm obviously new here and it would be terribly impolite for me not to introduce myself.

My name is Brittany. I'm 17 years old and going into my senior year of highschool. My mom told me about this forum and so far I've found quite a bit of inspiration but I have a major lack of motivation even though I've put on 30 pounds and I hate it. My big clothes that used to fall off of me are snug now and I would really like to be comfortable in my own skin again.

My goal is to lose 20 - 30 pounds. Currently I weigh 166 and my goal weight is my former lowest weight of 136, however, I'll settle for 140 even. I will be starting Slim in 6 soon and I'm aiming to play DDR everyday as well. I'm really hoping I can stick with this.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your project. Check out the sections on exercise and nutrition (particularly the sticky threads) as I am convinced that if you find a form of exercise that appeals to you and improve your eating habits you will quickly attain the figure that you would like. You certainly do not need to starve to do it - but adopt healthy eating habits.

Check out the clubs section as it may help you find friends with similar interests - maybe the same age group or weight range. It always helps to build a support network of friends.

Starting a diary and visiting other people's diaries can help with that too.

welcome to the forum :)

since your mom told you about it, is she currently 'dieting' and working out too? if she's already eating healthy, you can eat what she makes, and maybe you two can exercise together...do slim in six or take walks/runs. i know that when i first started having a diet and workout buddy made it easier to get to the gym and eat right because i didn't want to let myself down or let them down! just an idea.

how tall are you? do you have a gym that you have access to in your town or at your high school? do you have a ymca that offers classes like swimming or kickboxing (just a few ideas, depending on what you like)? working out doesn't have to be all boring walking on the treadmill. get outside while it's warm out and do something fun!

good luck on your goals!!

Hi! Welcome! It is definitely easier to lose weight as your age. Stay active and cut back on fast food! It helps a lot.

Thank you :)

She isn't really dieting per se, she is taking pills and shots to aid in her weightloss, eating less but not healthier, and isn't exercising. She has already lost 30 pounds in two months. Grr. She said we would walk and do slim in 6 together though.

I'm only 5'3" and my school doesn't have a gym but I might sign up for one once I'm able to drive on my own and work again. I'm an honor student, so trying to find time to balance school, a job, and all my extracurriculars can be quite challenging.
