Hi there. I've been looking around the site for a few days, and it seems like a really supportive and motivational place to be.
I am a college student in Florida. My major is Nursing/RN. I want to get in shape and lose weight before I enter the nursing program next year. That gives me about a year and two months.
I've not weighed myself lately, but as far as I know I weigh about 185. My ideal weight would be 115, but I'd be happy with 125 if I couldn't go any lower. So I have at least 60 pounds to lose.
I'm the heaviest I've ever been in my life, and I hate it. I spent most of my adult life overweight, but was never obese until I quit smoking a few years ago. I gained 20 pounds. Then I started smoking again, lost 10. Quit again, gained another 20. Started back again, lost nothing. Quit again, gained only 5 or so that time.
At this point, I've 8 non-smoking months under my belt. I feel as though my metabolism and appetite have returned to relative normalcy, so I'm ready to tackle the weight issue.
Of course, this is just kinda the overview... I think most of us who have had a long-term weight issue could probably type for hours about the why and the how of weight problems.
Anyway, glad to be here
